New Joe Pool Lake Website Interest[edit]

So I am feeling like JPL is a bit lacking in the online world. I am considering starting a site (funded and hosted by me) exclusively for JPL and for the community that lives around/visits JPL (Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Cedar Hill, etc). The site would include user provided fishing reports, photos, development, forums, etc.

My questions is, is their a need for such a site? Would I have information providing volunteers? I know there are a few out there now but they seem to be neglected, etc.

I have done this in the past for many different sites, most all with great success as I have the resources and ability to do so.

Comments? i found these pics of the lake back in the 50's when it was all farm land. pics taken from the first radio tower o n the cedar hill tower farm. kinda cool. old black and white pics of this beautiful land before it was all bought and built on. notice the "HAZ" warning signs on the of the hill. not sure what was hazardous then besides the hill it's self maybe. anyways, i hope you enjoy the pics...shttp://www.akdart.com/vtr/vtr8.htmlide

History[edit]

The article says construction began when the dam was completed, wouldn't construction have started when the dam itself was begun? (Whenever that may have been) For that matter, the bridges over the lake (Lake Ridge Parkway?) were in place before the dam was completed, and I'm guessing that farms, cemeteries etc. were moved out of the way well ahead of time. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 03:57, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it is a matter of defining the starting point being the building of the damn or the digging of the lake itself. DMN only goes back to 1985 for news articles (unless you jump back to 1977) and there is no mention of damn construction, only that the lake began to fill in jan of 1986. I would love to get more information prior to this, but can't seem to find any. I do know that the planning of the lake started around 1979.
