The husband of Anne (aka Anna) Campbell was not Patrick Muirhead, minister of Dysart, James Patrick's grandfather, who may well have married a cousin - Elizabeth Muirhead, daughter of John Muirhead, minister of Glassford (see Fasti Ecclesiae, Vol 5, on Dysart) - but Lockhart Muirhead, James Patrick Muirhead's father. Her mother had been Marion Muirhead, James Watt's aunt, and sister of Agnes Muirhead, Watt's mother. (See ScotlandsPeople, but since the spelling Muirheid had not been abandoned even by the end of the eighteenth century, Agnes is listed in Hamilton under that spelling, and their brother, Robert Muirheid of Croyleckie, retained the spelling until his death in 1828) It's not known whether in fact John Muirhead, the minister of Glassford, was actually kin of Agnes Watt, who seems to have been born in Hamilton, but it cannot be ruled out.Delahays (talk) 18:34, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
