Future DYK?[edit]

I think Jake should be a DYK nominee. Something like:

It might be denied, as he was with others, but he only did four jumps in his Army career and two of them became popularized. By the way, DYK only accepts noms created within the past five days so response time is crucial here. — WylieCoyote 09:10, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think a DYK would be fantastic, However I don't have the time to personally get the article up to the DYK standard in the time allowed. Also, if a DYK was put forward I think it would be more accurate to say something like:
I won't argue with any of that, especially since it also gives F13 a nod, and anything here for DYK would be suitable. Regarding their standards, I don't see what would not cause it to be denied. Date created, hook and article length with sources seem to be okay. — WylieCoyote 08:54, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bio-details?[edit]

This article purports to be a biography, but other than the date and place of its subject's birth, the earliest thing we learn about him comes while he was in the army. Surely, one of those obituaries has his parents' names, where he was schooled, etc., and if not, it explains why this information is unknown. We can't let laziness trump a good job. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 20:10, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Mentioned early life. Next time do it, instead of slating others as lazy.-Kiwipat (talk) 02:27, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

The image captioned as Sgt McNiece is not him. It usually appears on social media captioned as Sgt McNiece, but a few minutes of looking for verification will demonstrate that there has been plenty of outside examination of the photograph - and others taken at the time - which disproves this. It is generally believed to be an (unnamed) corporal from C Company 326 AEB. Neil S. Walker (t@lk) 14:27, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does anybody know which of the mohawk haircut images on a web search is Jake McNiece? Looking at those images, I cannot tell if he is even one of the two pictured. Thanks. 150.125.139.57 (talk) 13:44, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

White, not Native[edit]

There are no people with the surname Hugh or McNiece listed on the Dawes Rolls. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 11:43, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Book refs[edit]

Hi, I think the books deserve a more professional presentation. They are better sourced in the "Filthy Thirteen" article ("... Richard E. Killblane wrote Jake McNiece's version of the unit in The Filthy Thirteen (2003)..."), and should be so here, too. T 84.208.65.62 (talk) 02:44, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
