  • ... that according to family tradition, admiral and painter Jacob Hägg (painting pictured) decided to become a naval officer after seeing a French-British expeditionary force sail past Gotland during the Crimean War? Source: In Swedish: "Djupt imponerad av de allierade engelsk-franska flottorna, som 1854 seglade förbi Visby, bestämde sig H för att bli sjöofficer." From here. Also in Soop (offline) who tempers it by adding it is according to a family tradition.

  • This DYK nomination meets the following criteria: New (article created on 28 August), and Long enough (prose has 6,663 characters, 1,500 is min). Regarding the Within policy criteria, the following should be addressed: Sekundlöjtnant, Sub-lieutenant, Lieutenant, and Lieutenant commander ranks are unsourced in the prose. The article is neutral and although the sources are in Swedish, I did a few spotchecks and I did not find any copvios. The hook has more than 200 characters, my recommendation would be to cut according to family tradition, from the hook. The hook is interesting and is cited in the article. QPQ already done. Image is appropriately licensed, it is used in the article, and its size stands well. Vacant0 (talk) 10:31, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the review Vacant0! Yes, I miscalculated the hook length, it seems. Still, to remove according to family tradition, would possibly misrepresent the facts (since we don't have further confirmation this was the reason he joined the navy); but how about replacing it with "allegedly" or perhaps even better,
ALT 1: ... that admiral and painter Jacob Hägg (painting pictured) is said to have decided to become a naval officer after seeing a French-British expeditionary force sail past Gotland during the Crimean War?
or
ALT 2: ... that according to family tradition, admiral and painter Jacob Hägg (painting pictured) decided to become a naval officer after seeing a French-British naval force during the Crimean War?
As for the unreferenced list, it was added by another editor after I nominated the article. I don't think it adds much myself and will remove it. Yakikaki (talk) 14:53, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • EDIT: I found the source for the list of his grades and added it(and a photo of Hägg as a young man). Yakikaki (talk) 14:58, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think that Alt 2 looks better. The issue with the list has been resolved. We will now wait for an uninvolved editor to review the discussion and close it. Vacant0 (talk) 15:03, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
