Too many links![edit]

It’s great to have contributions, and we all appreciate them! But ...This article has FAR too many inline citations. I know we should always reference our articles thoroughly, but this is completely over-the-top. One sentence has no less than 14 links, and several sources are referenced 15 or 16 times each. This in an article which is actually not that long. It completely destroys whatever continuity the article has.

There is NO NEED to reference every single sentence with every single source that happens to mention that fact. This is not the purpose of inline citations on Wikipedia.

I would suggest the author reads Wikipedia’s very comprehensive help pages on citations, then do some serious weeding and pruning. As a rule of thumb - one reference per paragraph is usually more than enough. You do not need to cite the same source more than two or three times max. Occasionally a special fact may need its own citation. And that’s it. I am tempted to tackle it myself, but would end up doing a hatchet job. Thank you, I had altered many of my other Iris articles when other editors also mentioned too many links on the pages. Must have missed this one, will re-edit it soon. Regards 21:13, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
