The objectives of the IVSC are to strengthen the worldwide valuation profession by:

  • Developing high quality international standards and supporting their adoption and use;
  • Facilitating collaboration and cooperation among its member organizations;
  • Collaborating and cooperating with other international organizations; and
  • Serving as the international voice for the valuation profession

The objectives of the IVSC are to strengthen the worldwide valuation profession by:

  • Developing high quality international valuation standards which underpin consistency, transparency and confidence in valuations across the world
  • Be seen and referred to as the standard setter for valuation with international valuation standards which are recognized and over time adopted by key stakeholders around the world
  • Add status to the IVSC member and sponsor organisations and the valuation profession

Current paragraph The IVSC Standards Board is responsible for the development and maintenance of the International Valuation Standards, and for producing technical guidance to support the standards. It is currently chaired by Steven J Sherman, who leads Loop Capital’s Financial Consulting Services (LCFCS) practice and is based in Chicago.

Suggested paragraph The IVSC Standards Board is responsible for the creation and revision of the International Valuation Standards and supporting technical guidance. In fulfilling this role it follows a process of public consultation approved by the Trustees but otherwise has autonomy of its agenda and approval of the standards and other publications. Members are appointed for a three-year term and may be reappointed for one further three-year term.

Current paragraph The IVSC Professional Board is responsible for the development of the valuation professional globally through promoting consistent education and standards of ethical and professional conduct. It is currently chaired by Gregory Forsythe, a director in the Valuation practice of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP in the United States.

Suggested paragraph The IVSC Professional Board is responsible for promoting the development of the valuation professional around the world. WOrking in conjunction with the valuation profession bodies in membership of the IVSC it promotes common professional, education and ethical practices for professional valuers, and seeks to envourage the development of the profession in sector or markets where there is currently no professional infrastructure. Members are appointed for a three-year term and may be reappointed for one further three-year term.

Current paragraph 2 Following a restructuring of the organization in 2008 its name was again changed, this time to the International Valuation Standards Council. In 2012 the IVSC has over 70 organizations in membership from 54 countries. The organizations in membership accredit and regulate the conduct of individual valuers who specialize in the valuation of many different types of assets and liabilities, such as business interests, real property, intangibles, capital equipment and financial instruments.

In 2016 the IVSC has over 100 organizations in membership from over 50 countries. The organizations in membership accredit and regulate the conduct of individual valuers who specialize in the valuation of many different types of assets and liabilities, such as business interests, real property, intangibles, capital equipment and financial instruments.
