In Feb 2011, a warning was added "{{multiple issues|notability=February 2011|refimprove=February 2011}}" noting that this article needs additional citations for verification, and that the topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's general notability guideline.

To address the need for citations (Feb 2011), several references have been added over the following three years, some as links in the text and some in the References section. The remark that the ICA Early Career Award "is even sometimes called the 'Nobel Prize of Acoustics' for the international prestige it carries" appears to be unsubstantiated. Considerable searching on the web was unsuccessful in finding such a statement anywhere. Therefore, the two sentences involved have been deleted. Given these changes, it is believed that the need for citations has been addressed: the warning will be deleted.

To support the notability of this article, several edits have been made. First, Reference #1 to an online article was identified (Gilles Daigle, Charles Schmid, and Philip Nelson (2007). "The International Commission for Acoustics," Acoustics Today 3, 25-29. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.1121/1.2961155. Acoustics Today is published by the Acoustical Society of America (one of the preeminent scientific societies dealing with the field of acoustics); it contains newletter-type articles for the ASA as well as general articles on acoustical research. Its sister publication, the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, is one of the preeminent acoustical journals in the world. Second, the relation of the ICA to other key organizations was provided: the ICA is a Scientific Associate of the International Council for Science (ICSU), an Affiliated Commission of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), and an Affiliated Organization of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM). All three of these organizations have Wikipedia articles and the links to these are provided. As well, explicit links were included to the websites of the organizations in the References section. Given these changes, it is believed that sufficient support for notability has been given: the warning will be deleted. MikeStinOtt (talk) 00:26, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
