NPOV-section-tagged the Fundamental values section because of "However, democracy means more to the Independence Party than to many political movements". What exactly is this supposed to mean? As compared to Nazi Germany, or compared to other Icelandic political movements? Palthrow 18:55, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

This reads like a party brochure. I think it might need editing by someone who is not clearly an active member of the party.

I agree -- too much vague politico-speak. I wouldn't like to edit this myself, since I do not consider myself neutral in the matter. But perhaps some kind soul without strong opinions on Icelandic politics would do the honour? Palthrow 01:13, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

This party is thought to be the least democratic and liberal in Iceland , this cortical is utterly biased and complety wrong, members promoting internet censorship , high tobacco and alcohol taxes and tolls of foregin products.

They have shown extreme hostility against free market such as trying to limit how much a company can own of media with laws although that it was repelled

A party member put extra taxes on unwritten cds, cds, mp3 players and hard drives

This party also got trough a law that makes isp requird by law to keep logs 6 months back in time and to give police the identity of ip without a warrent

The party has a member on its list for next elections who has been in jail for stealing public tax money

There have been also numerous accusations of the party harrasing and interfering with the law and courts such as the Baugs-case and Hafskip

Butcer

Im removing the link to sus.is as it is unnoticeable group ( not in iceland but still), we could spam up all verticals on Iceland political party's with links like this

I spotted a new logo from xd.is. I think a registered user must change it. --112.206.94.207 (talk) 12:27, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Right-ward shift and other parties

The article goes talks about how the party shifted left-wards in its early history and about how it has held a unique position within Icelandic politics as the only centre-right party. This is true enough, but it omits the right-ward shift of the party that has happened since Davíð Oddsson's government and onward, as well as the emergence of the Liberal Reform Party and the Centre Party, which make it no longer the only centre-right party. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.181.116.51 (talk) 12:57, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Most support from fisher-men?

"the party is supported most strongly by fishermen and high-earners" The source for this is more than 20 years old. The part about high-earners is certainly still true, but I have no idea if the fishermen part still holds up. Considering the massive realignment of Icelandic politics since the financial crash of 2008, a source from 2000 cannot be considered relevant to what's true of an Icelandic political party today. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Margretarson (talkcontribs) 23:46, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
