This isn't really a disambiguation topic[edit]

"Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic" isn't an ambiguous term that has multiple meanings, rather it is a broad subject area that has numerous sub-topics. The content here should probably resemble a "lightweight" version of what was formerly at Socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.--Pharos (talk) 22:01, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is already such an overwiev with lightweight versions here: COVID-19_pandemic#Impact. I would keep this articale as a list. It is actually a list of all articles, not really a disambiguation topic. But a list is fine. Setting firmer criteria for this page[edit]

This page has, somewhat predictably, become a magnet for bloat, with a sampling of every possible kind of COVID-19 page being added, rather than just those on impacts. Can we set down some firm criteria for what constitutes an impact page, and then add that to an editnotice for the page? {{u|Sdkb}} talk 21:32, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Add "COVID-19 (pandemic) representation in media" section[edit]

Add "COVID-19 (pandemic) representation in media" section. For example, in the Japanese manga "Haikyuu!!" the 2020 Olympics were noted as taking place in July 2021, mirroring the real-life postponement of the 2020 Olympics due to the pandemic.

Proposal to rename this and all subarticles[edit]

Unless someone raises any overwhelming objections to it in the next week or so, I will be renaming this article and all the related subarticles to read Effects of... from Impact of... This is not only to avoid the use of informal, proscribed jargon that doesn't really belong on an encyclopaedia, but also to avoid issues of leading statements where the titles themselves implicitly self-declare the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic to be "strong/violent/marked" (as the definition of "impact" would suggest), which may or may not be true. Even if it is, it somewhat defeats the purpose of having an entire article detail how severely the pandemic affected that particular topic/industry given that when the title gives it all away.
