The result of the move request was: page moved as requested. ", Greece" is the correct natural disambiguation here, per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names). -- JHunterJ (talk) 20:01, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ilio, GreeceIlion, Greece – This seems to be the name used throughout the article's prose. A redirect is preventing me from boldly undertaking the move. — This, that, and the other (talk) 12:29, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked to the administrator to do so. Our name is Ilion of course. It has to be moved. (MGV91 (talk) 16:13, 28 April 2012 (UTC))[reply]

  • Comment: the format Placename, Statename is traditional for North American locations only (or mostly). This place isn't known as Ilio, Greece or Ilion, Greece (or the corresponding in Greek), right? Thus, if Ilio/Ilion isn't already unambiguous by itself, it should be Ilio (Greece) or Ilion (Greece). HandsomeFella (talk) 22:02, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As it is an encyclopedia it's good to be reffered in this way (Placename, Statename). But, Ilion is a city which is included in West Region of Athens. For all of us living in Athens, we call it just Ilion. The Greeks living outside Athens call it Athens, Ilion. So, the name I would suggest is Ilion (Athens), Greece, or Ilion, Athens, Greece (MGV91 (talk) 11:48, 2 May 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Question: are there more than one Ilion in Greece? HandsomeFella (talk) 12:33, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. The only other place called Ilion is Ilion, New York, which is a small rural town. 86.21.250.191 (talk) 19:39, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. The correct (modern) Greek spelling appears to be Ίλιον - Ilion (see el:Ίλιον Αττικής and the municipal website). The main use of Ilion is an alternative name for Troy IMO, so we need a disambiguator, and the comma version is standard for Greek places in wikipedia. "Ilion, Greece" is fine with me, I'd also support "Ilion, Attica". Markussep Talk 08:12, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is no other cities called Ilion in Greece. Maybe a very small village somewhere in the county, but I think that since I don't know it, no one abroad will know it. The big/known cities of the country are reffered as it is above (e.g. Arta, Greece). If there are more than 1 cities with the same name there is need of clarification. From then on, it is a matter of the administration map of Greece. Since last year, we have changed our administration map. Ilion was included in the prefecture of Athens which cancelled by the new law. Now, is included in the Region of Attica, but, the Region of Attica is separated to regional sectors. Ilion is included to the Region of West Athens. To sum up, if you want to be sufficient and officially accurate has to be Ilion, Attica as it is reffered in Greek part of Wikipedia, but if you want to be totally exact and detailed has to be Ilion, Athens. The first one is more appropriate because is based on the administration. The second one is based on geography. Ι think that we can have a consensus on Ilion, Attica.
