Contradiction[edit]

For a start, is it "hunky punk" (as used in the article title) or "hunkypunk", as used in most of the article. I assume both are acceptable to the article should start "A hunky punk or hunkypunk is..." The article title suggests that capitalization is required. Is it?

More significantly, The article contradicts itself in various ways about what a hunky punk actually is and what is the difference between hunky punks, gargoyles and grotesques. The articles on gargoyles and grotesques state that the distinction between them is that gargoyles are waterspouts, whereas grotesques are just ornamentation.

This article starts by saying that a hunky punk is a form of gargoyle local to Somerset in the UK. In the second paragraph, we are told that hunky punks are absolutely decorative; this means they are not gargoyles but grotesques. Then, in the third paragraph, it is stated that hunky punks are not just restricted to Somerset but can be found all over the world. So which is it? Are they gargoyles or just grotesques? Are they only found in Somerset or are they everywhere? If they are found world-wide, and are not only in the style of a squatting figure, surely 'hunky punk' is just a Somerset dialect term for 'grotesque' (or maybe 'gargoyle')? And what is the relationship between these characters and Chimera (architecture). Same? Different? Or, something else? Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 22:24, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Photo Request[edit]

A photo request has been added. There are lots of pics on the Hunky Pinks project but I am having problems finding any which are licenced for reused in a way which would enable them to be used on wikipedia. Does anyone have any?— Rod talk 17:43, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

As far as I can tell, this is just a regional name for a grotesque. No concrete distinction is given, nor is apparent in any of the photos at the site above. This should just be merged with Grotesque (architecture). OrangeDog (τ • ε) 08:33, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
