Result: reject merge.

This merge discussion died 5 months ago and was essentially resolved by the improvement of the OMP entry and reorganization of Hult entry. -- Jim Ralph 16:45, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Merge[edit]

Newly created article Oregon Mozart Players should probably be merged into a subsection of this article, especially if the Hult Center has multiple resident companies. The original article title can redirect to this article. -Amatulic 01:10, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It does have several resident companies. I'll create a Resident Company section and hope each individual group's people find it and edit them here.--tess 01:16, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm new to this whole business of wikis and I'll be guided by your wisdom on whether or not to merge. I'm glad to have our own page--I was going to create that myself as soon as I found time, and the external link I proposed was just a quick fix to discovering that we had nothing at all. Spot me a few days to prepare a proper entry that says more about the orchestra and its history.OregonMP 01:07, 21 January 2007 (UTC)User:OregonMP[reply]

Thanks for the feedback. First, about conflict of interest. I'm the board president of the Oregon Mozart Players, so I clearly have an interest in having an accurate account available. I'm also the OMP webmaster, and I think our web site is the proper place to blow our own horns, as it were. I have years of experience with internet-based material, but none whatever with wikis, so I'll welcome any advice as I try to learn the idiom. Now as for content: As I think it over, I believe that it's a mistake to merge the various Hult resident companies into one blob. Certainly that's the case for OMP, and I think it probably is for most of the other companies as well. OMP plays only about half of its concerts at the Hult, and has a very independent existence. The Eugene Symphony Orchestra, on the other hand, has all of its performances at the Hult. I've devised a somewhat extended description of OMP's activities and history, which I intend to try to post. Of course anybody is free to change that, I hope for the better.OregonMP 18:46, 21 January 2007 (UTC)OregonMP[reply]

Resident companies status[edit]

I know there are certain requirements before one can become a resident company of the Hult. For example, there is a per season minimum number of performances and minimum ticket sales requirement. And these minimum requirements vary with each type of arts organization. Would this info be appropriate for this article? Does anyone have knowledge and source for this information? --Tesscass (talk) 21:24, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
