For some reason he is listed on this page List of people who disappeared mysteriously at sea Is there something mysterious about a ship full of illegal weapons exploding when it gets torpedoes? Is there anything else to the story?108.48.123.240 (talk) 03:47, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The mystery may have been his body was not recovered. Had he been a serviceman he would have been listed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (who did not record civilian war deaths in WWI) as someone with 'no known grave'.Cloptonson (talk) 12:08, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Per the related talk page discussion and the stated inclusion criteria of List of people who disappeared mysteriously at sea (which expressly precludes non-mysterious events where "bodies are not recovered") I removed Lane's entry from that list several weeks ago.
