Hod Leverette → Horace Leverette – Per WP:COMMONNAME. A Newspapers.com search for "'Horace Leverette' and baseball" returns 133 results. A search for "'Hod Leverette'" returns one result, an article from 50 years after he died, simply listing "Hod Leverette" as an example of a funny name. Baseball-Reference also calls him Horace. Support, I think that you're right about it being the common name. Hod Leverette should be the redirect rather than the article title.
