What year? "The first section of the hotel was built by a developer eager to sell residential lots among the lemon ranches then lining the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains and opened in December of that year." The only information about the possible year being referenced is in the categories list at the bottom of the article (1902).

Who's Whitley? "Whitley was instrumental in the completion of the boulevard. Within less than three years he would be compelled to build an additional wing onto this elegant hotel." This name is mentioned 3 times in the article without a first name. If you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitley - there isn't any person with the name Whitley who could be involved with this hotel's development. This article is very incomplete.
