Merge[edit]

This article and the Chevrolet Captiva/Daewoo Winstorm article should be merged together. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Deejemon (talkcontribs) 02:39, 22 September 2006

By doing so, this would result in confusion due to the fact that the Captiva nameplate is used essentially on two vehicles: The Chevrolet Captiva, and Opel Antara. OSX (talkcontributions) 08:39, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This could be remedied by a hatnote in the Winstorm article and/or mention in the text. This article doesn't contain enough individual content for now to merit a aplit:
  • First paragraph belongs in the Winstorm, and perhaps Antara, articles.
  • Second is a mildly irrelevant discussion
  • Third discusses all that belongs in Winstorm and Antara articles, the only thing unique is info on trim levels (whether we need such is another question)
  • Fourth too, apart from marketing quirks that could be easily dealt with in relevant articles
  • Fifth is a combo of equipment levels (again, do we include such info), the general stuff (applying to all Winstorms/Antaras) and the obvious (come on, almost all modern cars are design according to the "safety cell" principle)
I see no reason for keeping the split. PrinceGloria (talk) 20:25, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I do see your point, but why is then that we can have articles on the Holden Astra and Barina? The Captiva lineup comprises of two different cars are two different cars, and needs its own article to avoid confusion. And anyway, this article is in way better shape than both the Antara and Winstorm articles. OSX (talkcontributions) 22:42, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  1. The Astra and Barina nameplates have been used on otherwise unrelated cars, so I was in favor in keeping separate articles for them to explain how the nameplates were applied in Holden markets (though I wouldn't want to see those articles evolve past start-level).
  2. If you want to avoid confusion, I actually believe TWO separate articles would make more sense - one for Captiva and one for Captiva Maxx. And then we could merge both back into their parent articles :D
  3. Seriously now - all the confusion there is can be dealt with in a succint one-liner, no need for an entire article here.
  4. "Merge" doesn't mean "delete and replace with redirect". It means to fuse content of both artilces - I would gladly see the Winstorm article improved with all the goodness from this article.
  5. The shape is not "way better", just better - see my comments above
  6. I am not quite in favor of the Holdenocentrism rampant in English Wikipedia (not surprisingly, given what language you speak down there ;) ), so please note it is not that natural from non-OZ view to have an article for every Holden. We can live without articles for every Vauxhall for that matter.
