pronouncing the Greek

I think if you give the Greek, you need to add its pronunciation (or at least a transliteration with a diacritical over the final -e representing the eta), within the parentheses, because most people can't read Greek letters. Cynwolfe (talk) 00:23, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

The transliterations (Hekátê, Hekátē) were there before, but Akhilleus removed them.

The Greek name is a wikilink to wikt:Ἑκάτη, which gives:

Pronunciation

  • (Classical): IPA: [hekátɛː]
  • (Koine): IPA: [hɛkˈateː]
  • (Byzantine): IPA: [ekˈati]
Will that suffice, or do you want it copied here? Sizzle Flambé (/) 00:36, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Hekátê and Hekátē are equivalent transliterations, so only one should be added; probably the one with the macron, since that will be more familiar to most readers. I'd leave out the pronunciations, since the link to Wiktionary is there. --Akhilleus (talk) 00:41, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Restored Hekátē: "Hecate or Hekate (ancient Greek Ἑκάτη [Hekátē], "far-shooting")...". Sizzle Flambé (/) 00:48, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
