Talk:Harlem Heroes

Third series

As well as the original "Harlem Heroes" series and the "Inferno" sequel there was a third series, also called "Harlem Heroes", which ran in 2000AD sometime in the '90s, if memory serves. Inital art chores was by Steve Dillon with inks by Kevin Walker, although as the series progressed other artists may have worked on it. Did John Tomlinson write this one? Will have to check. The third series was a sort of re-imagining of the original although there may have been a more direct connection between them than just the name, although rather than being a sport strip this new take on the 'Heroes' had them as some sort of freedom fighters or something. I'll have to dig through my back progs and see if I can't add something to this article. Demos99 14:16, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I've included the Fleischer-scripted stories in the section 'second series'. They do still need brief summaries, however.

Good work - I'm unsure we really need separate entries on each installment though - there is plent yof room in this entry. Best advice is to expand in the main entry and then if it looks like something needs its own entry it can be split off at a later date. (Emperor 16:03, 13 July 2006 (UTC))

Right. I've updated the entire article as far as my reference material will let me. I've tidied up (hopefully) everything that needed it, I've re-written the main article's summary and that of the first section, I've written a brief summary for the Judge Dredd section, I've completely revised the trivia section, and, finally, I've created a fairly comprehensive footnote section. Everything else that needs sorting I'll leave to anyone else who fancies it. Alternatively, I'll do it when I've got full access to the relevant progs. I'll apologize in advance for any duff links. Nice work - I've been through and picked up some of the links already and it looks pretty solid. What I'd like to see is Plot section for each phase outlining the story arcs and themes but, as you say, thats going to take a bit more reading of the source material. "Death Game 1999" but toned-down ?

I'm mildly curious if the original "Harlem Heroes" was specifically intended as a toned-down version of "Death Game 1999" ?
Okay, many sporting stories feature a team that continues to win despite the odds.
But both of these stories feature the plot line of a star player who is seen killed/almost killed, only to be rebuilt as a psycopathic cyborg/robot, who repeatedly: appears - attacks the hero - gets smashed up again - gets rebuilt again... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.29.225.91 (talk) 08:24, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
