Adaptation/remake[edit]

@Ab207 (talk) We can call Happy an adaptation of Azhagiya Theeye instead of remake. "Adaptation" word is also used for films. For example, in Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! page, the lead says, "It is an adaptation of the studio's earlier film Nadiya Ke Paar (1982) .......". And Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! page is a "Good Article".

It is justified because Happy is significantly different from Azhagiya Theeye in the characterisations, tone, style, and screenplay aspects. Only the core idea is taken from the latter film. So calling it an adaptation would be better, IMHO. Let me know your thoughts. Reo kwon (talk) 09:17, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Reo kwon: The distinction between remake and adaptation is very clear.

Remake "retells the story of an earlier production in the same medium" ie, film-to-film
Adaptation is "adapting of a literary source (e.g. a novel, short story, poem) to another genre or medium, such as a film, stage play, or video game."

Both Azhagiya Theeye and Happy are feature films, so the latter cannot be called an adaptation by any means.

The good article argument is rather weak. The lead of the reviewed version changed so much now. Even that version says remake in the body, so changed it back to remake as it should be. Regards -- Ab207 (talk) 09:12, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
