Rename[edit]

Pictorial shrines are not uncommon in the West (English). Since the Emperor was divine, they are of similar import to Western religious icons. Not sure of the exact wording, but introducing this new word into English is yet another poor idea, no matter how many examples someone can come up with. Both English and Japanese are language "sponges" as are their speakers. This is good sometimes, lousy at others. I tend to think this falls into the latter category since only it's specific subject matter differs from Western examples. Student7 (talk) 18:30, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well there's no Pictorial shrine and personally I'm more than happy with the title as it is (though maybe it should be normalized with the nomenclature used in the rest of the article); naming debates aren't really my speciality though, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 18:36, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think that the title is problematic. The Japanese pronunciation is Hō An Den, but I could not make the title Hō An Den with my computer. I have not found any translation at present. The image is that of a small shrine. Because there are many sources of information, I would like to improve this article later. --Ichiro Kikuchi (talk) 06:03, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
