Characters[edit]

The "Characters" section is just awful. It needs to be totally reworked, this time with some attention paid to formatting.

July 26, 2005- Character section reworked. Still needs to be checked for spelling and subject accuracy.

Not only that, but shouldn't Harry, of all the people of importance as characters in this series/game, at least have his own character section? --98.18.50.86 (talk) 17:34, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Two separate articles[edit]

one for the game and one for the anime --Dangerous-Boy 07:46, 17 January 2006 (UTC)--[reply]

I agree. I came here looking for some info of the anime series and i realiza that there's not much info about it and i got to say the same thing of the data about the game, it would be cool if someone could make two separate articles and maybe to expand them a little bit.
Disagree, for now. I'm not very familiar with Gungrave (I'm only starting to watch the anime now.), but if the games and anime are very intertwined, I don't see the reason for two articles. Until there is a larger body of information up that is unique to the anime, the anime should be sub-section of the game article. As it stands now, the anime section is rather small, in fact if you take out the episode names, it's just a fragment. If it was split off it would be a sad sub. However, if Mitsurya's plan (below) to actually created a fleshed out article about the anime, fine. I'll support multiple articles if each article has real substance. Otherwise, keep it all in one.Mr. Cat 21:22, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i am working on creating two seperate articles for this topic and creating one for gungrave overdose -- mitsurya

I disagree that the anime and games should be seperated, mainly because the second half of the anime is the original ps2 game(with an alternate ending). Originally it was a two ps2 games that got turned into an anime, which is what this article should describe. There should be a section added for characters in the anime who do not appear in the game (i.e. maria, big boss in human form), but other than that, I think they should be binded as one article, since it's one idea with one set of characters.

The anime deserves it's own article.

I agree that it should have a separate article. Hewinsj

Seperate articles?[edit]

Maybe the seperation of articles is not necessarily needed. Perhaps just a division in the section is enough.

There's plenty of material to make a gungrave article just about the anime.

There's too much to the anime to give it only half an article.

You're wish is my command! - Gungrave (anime) (in early stages of development).

Episode guide[edit]

The episode guide is a mess. It should be set in proper format, and given actual episode summeries.

Gungrave Anime Section[edit]

By request, I've taken the liberty of creating a seperate article for the anime.
All the info of it from this article is in the new article, as well as now much more. I also removed the info from this article and replaced it with a Main Article: link.

To fing my reasons for doinf this, check out the disscusion for the new article - Gungrave (anime)

Hope this hasn't caused too much inconveniance to anyone n_n;

--CosmicFool Enterprises™ 23:36, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all CF. It's a good start, and the info for the page looks cleaner allready. Maybe we can move some of the anime specific characters over to the Anime section once it's had some progress. User:Hewinsj 17:43, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Updates[edit]

I've edited the opening paragraphs which should be good, and changed the information box to standard videogame, rather than anime that included VG info. I've created a Gungrave OD article, and I'm going to try and add new sections here like weapons, characters, ect. to draw a distinction. If anybody has anything constructive to add to Gungrave OD, go ahead. Also, does anyone really want that Cinemanga section? Does it serve a purpose? Hewinsj 08:12, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It does serve a purpose, by informing a certain part of the gungrave saga. Isn't that what wikipedia is about? I say keep it.

But it's not part of the saga, just a reprint of still shots from the anime. It has little to nothing to do with the game itself. If anything the fact that it exists should be made a subsection of Gungrave (Anime) (under Other Media or something like that). Also, the text shouldn't read as though it was taken from a Diamond Previews catalogue. Hewinsj 15:53, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Overhauling the article and gearing it toward the original game. Going to try and fit the format set by some other games in the computer and video game project. If anyone has ideas on things that can be added post it here. Also, if anyone knows which characters are exsclusive to the anime, cut them from this page and move them over there. This one is only going to reflect enemies and allies from the original Gungrave. Hewinsj 18:09, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:GG-Cerberus.jpg[edit]

Image:GG-Cerberus.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Gungrave (franchise)[edit]

Now, we need a new Wiki article "Gungrave (franchise)" that includes information about "Gungrave", "Gungrave: Overdose", and "Gungrave (anime)". ProResearcher (talk) 16:34, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That might not be necessary, there's already a page that collects the Gungrave related articles in one place: Gungrave (disambiguation). Hewinsj (talk) 14:55, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Kind guidance for you, Hewins. A "disambiguation" page is automatically generated by Wikipedia when you search for a term and more than one Wiki article closely matches your search.
We truly need a "Gungrave (franchise)" article. If the article would only discuss Gungrave video games, then the title would probably be "Gungrave (series)". However, Gungrave includes video games and a television serial, so we need a "Gungrave (franchise)" article.
ProResearcher (talk) 18:17, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if there is any confusion here. Disambiguation pages are not generated automatically. Users have to create them when they notice that topics overlap. I created Gungrave (disambiguation) myself in 2006.
Now, I'm completely confused. Sometimes, when I search on Wiki, a disambiguation page pops up. However, when I search for "Gungrave", the first Gungrave game pops up, not your disambiguation page. Personally, I think that response by Wiki is wrong.
The trouble with creating a franchise page is that the articles themselves are rated as start/stubs. Any information added to a franchise page that is new would probably be better used to improve one of the existing articles. If that information isn't new it would be redundant and unnecessary.
I agree with you completely!!! When I work on a list or a series article, I rarely write new information. Instead, I just borrow text from the existing articles. (Try convincing other editors about your philosophy, though. I encountered one list recently that had dozens of references. Ugh.)
Do you have any examples of successful franchise pages with derivative articles for each part of that franchise, or any examples of what information should go into a Gungrave franchise article that shouldn't be placed in an article for the individual game/anime? Hewinsj (talk) 13:00, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen many "franchise" articles. (So many that I can't remember any specifically :-). Run your cursor down "List of video game franchises", and I'm sure you'll find several.) In general, they seemed fine to me. That's why I figured that Gungrave needs a franchise article.
Again, I'm completely confused now. Maybe it's just a matter of semantics. The word disambiguation strikes me negatively. When I click on the "Series" link in an Infobox, I feel much better if a "series" or "franchise" article pops up. On the other hand, your "disambiguation page" approach certainly entails less work. Hmmmm. I'll think on it.
ProResearcher (talk) 13:40, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, why doesn't "Gungrave" in "List of video game franchises" point to your disambiguation page? :-)
ProResearcher (talk) 13:44, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't claim ownership of the disambiguation page, I just happened to be the one to start it. I guess Gungrave wasn't listed in the list of franchises because no one thought to add it until now. Hewinsj (talk) 16:41, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just read the article "Wikipedia:Disambiguation". The result--in the case of Gungrave, I think a "franchise" page is correct.

Here's a good example for you . . .

On a "franchise" page, I would include:

  • "Godfather" books by Mario Puzo
  • Godfather movies based on the books
  • Godfather games based on the books / movies

On a "disambiguation" page, I would include:

  • all items from the above "franchise" page plus
  • a general article about the concept of a mafia Godfather
  • a general article about the concept of a familial godfather

Do you see the difference?

Thus, I truly believe that your Gungrave disambiguation page should be renamed to a franchise page. Sorry.
ProResearcher (talk) 15:05, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a difference in your example. The term The Godfather links to the 1972 film and has a disambiguation link at the top of the page to help people find the novel and a category box at the bottom of the page that collects every article connected to the franchise for easy browsing. The term Godfather links to a disambiguation page. All of the information related to the word use in terms of the Godfather series of books and movies are collected under the heading "In Media". It doesn't look like there is a separate article listing each item in the franchise, and it doesn't look like one is necessary since each part of the franchise has their own articles.
If what you are proposing is list of the items in the series, I don't believe this type of article is necessary. Disambiguation pages already exist to help people find the articles for each article related to a franchise. I don't think I've ever heard of a franchise article before and like I said I wouldn't mind seeing some examples of what you are proposing. Hewinsj (talk) 17:06, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed your responses above and I'll take a look at that list you provided. Hewinsj (talk) 17:08, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Never reloads his pistols[edit]

Sorry to add a section to a Talk Page to address this, but I'm not confident enough in my Wiki-editing abilities to add a section to the actual public Wiki entry for Gun Grave.

The article mentions that Beyond the Grave never reloads his pistols; in fact, if you fire a certain number of rounds (Is it 100,000 or 1,000,000? I can't remember!), Grave will hold both pistols back near his coffin and some kind of automated mechanism will reload the pistols for him.

Is this the type of thing we'd need to grab a screenshot from game of him actually reloading the pistols? I wasn't able to find any pictures on the internet of him reloading. 63.115.34.34 (talk) 13:50, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: I actually managed to find a copy of this game last night! I stood still and held fire for about twelve minutes and he didn't reload. I'm almost sure I remember holding it long enough when I first played the game. 63.115.34.34 (talk) 12:15, 7 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
