Wasn't he also Preston Manning's bodyguard/chauffeur?[edit]

As I remember this, wasn't he first exposed as a Heritage Front guy because he was Preston Manning's chauffeur-cum-bodyguard, the implication being that this was an image-slag on Manning, given all the extreme-right rabble in the wings of the Reform Party-cum-Alliance-cum-CRAP-cum-New Tories? It was only because of this exposure that his role as a CSIS mole in the Heritage Front came out, implying that he'd worked to the inside position with Manning as a way to discredit the leader of the new regionalist party? And weren't there a couple of reporters who went to jail for reporting on this whole thing? Am I in danger, in fact, for bringing this up???Skookum1 07:28, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see this article's been expanded a lot - but I recall clearly that the reason he vaulted into national scrutiny was because his rightist links/activities/connections were at first brought up because, as founder of the National Front, he was Preston Manning's chauffeur/bodyguard (Manning didn't know about his past or his CSIS status)....as a matter of fact I recall that his CSIS orders had had him get that position in order to spy on Manning. But I guess that's all off the record now, even though it was all over the papers at the time. Funny how things get swept under the rug in this country. Anyway, there are certain turns of phrase in the article that indicate self/vanity-edits like we used to see at Erik Bornmann, so I'm placing the WP:AUTO template as a reminder.....Skookum1 (talk) 16:19, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was involved in the CP (bodyguarding) of Preston Manning at this time. Grant was around, but was not his chauffeur nor was he in close proximity to him (Manning). Furthermore, it was CSIS and grant bristow who were responsible for the creation of the Heritage Front.\
It was a make work project for bristow. He was hired on to keep tabs on Wolfgang Droege when he was released from prison in the US. There was also a CSIS agent ready to "meet" Droege in Vancouver BC as well, just incase he went to live out west. Bristow saw this opportunity to cash in and created the Front. To advance his importance, he also started various harassment campaigns and counciled others to commit crimes and assaults "for the cause" then inform on them and would stand back and say "see, I told you so...." now give me a raise. Who would question such an upstanding citizen who was only "doing what he thought was right. Would you believe a nasty racist? not likely. Especially after numerous rumours of weapons and bad bad behaviour etc... bristow had carte blanche to do and say as he saw fit, answering to nobody!
Admitting afterwards in a CSIS document that the HF is no threat to anyone, and that "they couldn't put together a bologne sandwich!" In the same breath, stating that he was affraid for his life. Now, under the new identity of Nathan Black, he and his family live comfortably in a nice part of St. Albert. in Alberta. Up to the same tricks and lies, he constantly feels the need to disrupt peoples lives and pretend to be the good guy. Still "terrified" for his life, he can't seem to keep his mouth shut and out of the news. Not a smart lifestyle for someone in hiding. Google his name(s) and see how he spends his time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.69.36.201 (talk) 03:06, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bizarre to me that this article doesn't mention Preston Manning not even once[edit]

How Grant Bristow came into the public limelight was as a result of his capacity as volunteer chauffeur/bodyguard for Preston Manning and the news breaking that he was associated with the Heritage Front and then that he had become involved with that organization in his CSIS capacity........so it's very, very, 'very odd that that is not mentioned here at all....perhaps a paucity of news cites - CanWest Global burned/destroyed its archives in 1993 when Izzy Asper took over......what's on here now is interesting...we never got this much about Bristow in the media at the time of the "Manning Affair" about him...I also remember someone was jailed for reporting about him, and someone else was jailed for reporting about the reporter who was jailed.....state security and all that. So....what do here? I don't know. it's not the first Canadian story where the Canadian media have looked the other way; the Erwin Braich financial scandal saga, the murder of Billy Bartholomew at CFB Reimagen and more were hot news in their day....but are unspoken and never-spoken of today......the problem is with Wikipedia t he insistence that the mainstream media are reliable..when they are usually totally incomplete and often very evasive....Skookum1 (talk) 07:43, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
