Scotch Regions[edit]

Although the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) states on their web site that there are five Scotch whisky regions, some whisky aficionados consider the islands off the west coast of Scotland (but not Islay) to be a distinctive whisky region, while the SWA considers these islands to be a subregion of the Highlands. Note that Wikipedia article "List of whisky distilleries in Scotland" includes 12 distilleries in the region "Island". Suggest a clarification of some sort.
