Current Residence

In the Author About page in the Umbrella Academy Apocalypse Suite book, it says Gerard currently lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife Lyn-Z Ballato-Way. Loveyoudeathx3 (talk) 23:38, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

In a radio interview on 6/14/08 for kroq, Gerard confirmed that he lives in Los Angeles, CA.

Iron Maiden & Gerard Way

"She also made his costume, which included traditional green tights. After this Way "turned his back" on singing, saying, "Well, I don't want to be this weird singer kid, [I'm] into other things like comics and Iron Maiden". He then decided to pursue graphic arts."

Are there are any sources that can clarify that Gerard Way is into comics & Iron Maiden? His music is not in the style of Iron Maiden, nor is it in the same genre. What proof is there? Unconscious 14:26, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Citation needed

"Way had always been interested in drawing and comics because his childhood house was a "dark and dingy gothic-looking" place in the town of Belleville, New Jersey. King of Rock

Recently on MTV2's All That Rocks, Gerard Way was voted the "Almighty King of Rock" with 63% of the vote. Should this be put on Gerard Way's page??

It might been important but it's pretty stupid, MTV know nothing about Music anymore, I mean they never play music, they just fill it with Pimp My Ride. MTV is all about making money and Gerard Way is not a "king" of rock. Change the photo already!!

Gerard has recently dyed his hair back to black again (as of his appearance on MTV, which can be viewed on YouTube with MCr performing "Dead!" and "Famous Last Words" from The Black Parade. The picture needs to be changed!!File:Http://file028b.bebo.com/0/mediuml/2007/01/04/17/2271190142a3075239309b923383635ml.jpg can someone do this for me i cant do it. and WE NEED A LONGER trivia section, i mean how can you get information, if theres hardly any. Cleanup

This article needs a pretty big cleanup- I've already removed unnecessary sections (see page history) and added citationneeded tags at various points. The article also needs to read more like an encyclopedia, and most of the article needs to be sourced, as I said before. Some of the sections are also about My Chemical Romance and not Gerard- Discography and Lyrics, and Musical Influences and Tastes, however some of the material in these are relevant to him, it's just a matter of filtering the My Chemical Romance material and putting it in that article. I'll be working on this over the next few weeks, but please help! Other than that, it's looking good, and it's got a pretty thorough biography. It's now just a matter of the wording. Also, I think we need another blond picture of him at the top. The current one is small and he may have dyed his hair black for the New Years performance but that doesn't mean that is for the rest of the tour. Agreed- I don't think there's any recent pics of him with black hair anyway. I'm pretty sure it's black at the moment, but I could be wrong- we'll find out for certain at Big Day Out, at least, unless people can find pictures of him sooner? The picture is pretty out of date, it's not recent at all. And by the way, whether it's a picture of him blonde or not, it doesn't really matter, it's him. True, he has dyed it back, but the fact is it's still him. A more recent photo, however, should be preferable. CattleGirl ^{talk | sign!} 08:46, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Not to be rude or anything, but if you want a newer pic of gerard, then why say you dont care if he has blond or black hair. He already died it black so im quite sure that any pic of him in blond hair is not a recent one.

Sources

I've seen this major problem with pretty much every article related to My Chemical Romance -- people aren't sourcing! People are adding rumors and hearsay to the pages. Not just that, people are adding things that ARE the truth but aren't putting sources. We need to work on cleaning this up, in my opinion.

Unfortunately it seems that some people are registering in order to add rumours etc... it's not exactly difficult to register. Is there no way to restrict it to people who've been members for a certain amount of time? According to the following article, Billie Joe Armstrong did indeed influence him to play guitar. His quote from the interview: I always cite my influences as being the Misfits and the Smiths and the Cure; those artists inspired me to write music. Citation Needed

What's with all the Citation Needed comments everywhere? Yes, I understand they're important, but the fact that he still smokes needs citation..? I understand that people need to be sure but if there's a citation for every single tiny detail there'll be more links than information on the page. =/

Since this is a biography article, and on a subject that is vandalized on a regular basis, if it sounds like it could be false it has to be cited. And the fact that he still smokes probably shouldn't be in there anyways, it's really trivial. Gerard does in fact smoke. On the show "Planet Rock (MCR edition)", Gerard and Bob were being interviewed and Gerard was smoking. It was on the FUSE music channel. This episode aired TV in early 2008. Gerard has also made statements that have indicated that he's a smoker. That's really gross though. Art section

I moved the part about his art in the "background" information to the section for "art" which had previously been deleted I'm *guessing* due to lack of solid information. I figure that his artwork isn't really background since he is presently working on it, and I think it deserves its own space. Wording

Since the edit summary was getting to be a bit long-winded. I reverted the following edits: found here because the wording is very awkward and I think it goes without saying. It seems slightly redundant and unnecessary to me, but the original editor disagrees reverting the edit, so I wanted to see what everyone else thought about it. Here is the original text before the edits:

I read the "die alone" part pre-redundancy on imnotokay.net, but it seemed like padding and filler to me. I don't really have an opinion on whether the realisation part stays or goes. The Hair

Fourth best-looking female??? Is that a joke?! Also, the house he grew up in was far from dark and gothic. And one more thing: why is there about as much on Bert McCracken than his whole musical career? Most people haven't heard of it; but nearly everyone's heard of MCR. The Fourth best looking female is actually true. It was part of a livejournal.com serge of votes. Your opinions are greatly valued, however do you have any sources to say that Gerard is pretending to be more than what he is "like Blur, Vanilla Ice, and Lily Allen have done"? Possible Protection of Talk page

I have had several posts of mine vandalised, and I've noticed other user's posts changing to other things also. The last section I have had vandalised was the following:

Just to let UNCONSCIOUS know: MCR IS NOT EMO. Gerard has stated he thinks "Emo is effing garbage." MCR doesn't want to be categorized as emo. And if you hate the band, get off their discussion page. MCR fans visit sites about them. People that don't like MCR and visit their sites have no life. How about you go out get one and get off MCR's case. They wouldn't value your opinoin anyways. You're not a fan. I am a fan and have seen countless interviews. Also, I have been to one of their concerts. MCR does not believe violence is a solution for anything. They believe violence doesn't work. They don't believe that you should be unhappy and should get help if something is bothering you. Another thing, MCR's fans are definetly not all emo. They have fans of all ages and different styles. You don't have to be emo to listen and really enjoy MCR's alternative/punk rock music. They always have been and always will be amazing. I bet they've changed peoples lives. IN A POSITIVE WAY. They're so inspiring. As a person, I am not emo and I love their music. The Black Parade was so full of life. The topics of the CD (life, death, and love) are what everything's all about. Death is not a negative thing. Everybody will have a time and place for it. If you bring it upon yourself, shame on you. Humans were created to enjoy every aspect of life. So, enjoy it! Gerard, Mikey, Frank, Bob, and Ray don't make their music to depress people. Photo updates

As much as I LOVE checking this page every day to see all the photo changes, I wish people would stop putting up old pictures of him when there are thousands of current ones available. I see the one that's on there right now is from the 2006 Warped tour (That's three hairstyles ago, for those of you who track time that way), while the one before that was from 2007. Can't anything be put in place to keep people from changing the photo all willy-nilly?

And in another website I visited, which I cannot cite, says that at a show he said he was engaged. CITATIONS NEEDED

I have just added a bunch of "Citation Needed"s to the article on claims that will need backing up with legit sources. This does not include MTV webpages. If in the next 3 weeks, sources are not found for each alert, I shall remove all unsourced material.' All supposed 'quotes' need citations. You cannot quote him on anything, unless you have proof that he had honestly said it. Furthermore, please do not cite celebrity gossip webpages, or a website that isn't notable. That is just as bad as not having a citation at all. I apologise for the mess of the main article, the citations alerts needed to be added for every claim I could find, that requires a source. Engaged

I've noticed someone has tried to spark off an edit war by putting in the engagement information before the issue has been decided. As of yet, until a final decision is made, we shall not put anything about the engagement on the article. For starters, the source stating they had broken up had little to do with a breakup, but more so settling down instead of constantly being on the move. I find it hard to believe that he got engaged, and broke up, in the period of about a month, and we still don't have any names. For this reason, I personally, I'm going to dismiss it as a rumour. If it is edited back in, I shall ask for administrator guidance as to our next course of action. I do not find that the source is reputable, and it seems to be, me and 'anonymous' are the only users editing the page, or checking the talk page at the present. Better protection of main article?

Hi everyone! :-)

Just thought I would make a suggestion that the protection on this page be moved up a notch to "Admin only" or similar. The reason that I'm suggesting this is simply because - Although the page is currently protected from new users - I still wound up removing vandalism that had been placed there by another Wikipedia user that I came across whilst visiting the page to reference something else, and as MCR often get a lot of stick for being "Emo", just about any MCR-related page on Wikipedia could well be a prime target for vandalism. :-(

I'm hoping that this is an isolated incident (Just a random MCR-hater maybe?) but it does make me think that a lot of MCR-related pages could be vulnerable to vandalism from other Wikipedia users who have a disliking of the band, and protection from such things (As opposed to edit wars) might be a better solution, provided there are enough editors who are MCR fans available to keep the pages updated. :-)

I must admit that I'm one of the "other lot" (Someone who doesn't like MCR at all), but even then I'd sooner remove vandalism rather than forge it...Alas though, the majority of this "other lot" could possibly be a primary source of vandalism unless these pages are protected better... :-(

Talk page cleanup?

Hail again! :-)

Given the length of this talk page, I propose that the old and "finished with" stuff be archived to keep this talk page clear and easier to use. I'd normally create such an archived copy myself, but the only method I know for doing this is to cut/paste all of the text into a new archive page. If there's any discussion currently going on here (I don't really have time to check for this, alas.) that method would probabally lead to problems and people having to yank their stuff out of the archive again. :-(

Given this page must be close to the 100Kb mark, I reckon it's high time an archival copy was taken...But I think it'd be best for me to leave this to a more experienced user to make sure I don't go archiving something that's still current. :-)
