Where?[edit]

Where exactly was Gene Parsons born? The infobox says "Los Angeles", but the source provided in the article says he was born at the family homestead in the Mojave Desert, which kinda rules out LA. --jpgordon^{::==( o )} 18:45, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've had a look in Johnny Rogan's book and he was apparently born in Morongo Valley in the Mojave. Judging from its Wiki article, Morongo Valley looks like it's actually a county but I have no further info as to exactly whereabouts in Morongo Valley the ranch was. However, I do know that Parsons' father homesteaded the ranch himself in the 1920s...he literally picked a piece of land, built a house there and grew or raised all of his own food. So it may be that the Parsons' family ranch wasn’t actually located in any officially recognized town. --Kohoutek1138 (talk) 23:39, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Morongo Valley isn't a county. It's in San Bernardino County, California, and includes some interesting places like Twentynine Palms, CA and Joshua Tree, CA -- I've got a few friends that live there. And, of course, it's where the unrelated-but-often-confused-with Gram Parsons was immolated after his death. The language in the article looks good now; perhaps the infobox wants "Morongo Valley" as well? --jpgordon^{::==( o )} 00:35, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Drumming[edit]

There is no section on Gene's distinctive drum setups that he used with The Byrds - I mean Gene Parsons, not Gene Clark, nor do I mean Gram Parsons (by the way, the two Parsonses were not related). I've seen photographs of Mr. Parsons' drum kit with The Byrds and noticed that he didn't use regular floor toms, but rather he used timbale-like drums that he mounted on snare stands or something and positioned them where most drummers have their floor toms (depending on whether they're right or left-handed of course). In addition to crashes, ride and hi-hats, he also used china cymbals and splash cymbals, but again it varied as photographs and film footage indicate.115.64.25.61 (talk) 09:53, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you can find any reliable, third-party sources that specifically detail his drum kit set up, feel free to include details about it in the article.
