Gamepads and Forum and Faction

The article mentions Gamepads and "Forum and Faction," but doesn't bother to explain what those are. If you know, please update the article. Thanks. MadDreamChant 16:00, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

MTV owns this?

I didn't know....--D-Boy 06:22, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

It kinda pisses me off.....EAB 21:20, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Erased some stuff

The article keeps mentioning gamespot and seems sort of biased against the site. So I took some of that down, stuff like:

"Gamespot, and IGN require you to pay money, for their 'premium' subcriptions."EAB 21:20, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Seems biased

The article seems like it was written by someone from the site. Proprius 14:06, 28 August 2006

some of it is true. it offers high definition content without a subscription and has generally good bandwidth. What is point of view? I think even the statement above about the other requiring premium subscriptions could be included, without the quotes around premium. --gatoatigrado 04:48, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

seeing as angry nintendo nerd is featured on this site, why cant he get his own article?

The administrators notedly base all of their reasons for denying an article on facts and statistics from July 2006, well before Rolfe's character took off.216.37.86.10 19:53, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

All those links

That giant block of links at the bottom isn't really necessary, is it? It's like someone from Viacom stuck it there as a giant advertisement. And dude, I'm a fan of the Nerd too, but give up. Unless MTV puts some GTTV content like the Nerd on the actual network, we'll probably never see him with a wiki article. LonelyDingo 09:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

They finished filming commercials for MTV, SpikeTV, and G4. This will be ignored by the administrators per the usual.216.37.86.10 18:00, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

I can't get it. Why is it that Ask a Ninja gets it's own article but the Nerd can´t? They're both pretty famous (and I'd even dare to say the Nerd's even more famous). Can anyone give me any good reasons why can't the Nerd have an article? Thanks. Axe995 05:28, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Contrary to popular belief, wikipedia is NOT an objective site; It is subjective. If an administrator or collection of administrators favor a subject, such as Ask a Ninja, they will throw their weight behind it and do their best to make sure the article stays. However, if it is a subject that they do not like, they will be sure to band together and make sure the article never sees the light of day. An excellent example is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, where administrators frequently make edits to the previously non-notable article. Even before it was mentioned on a popular radio show, they did their damndest to make sure their pet was not destroyed. With AVGN, however, they administer WP:IAR just because they 'don't think he's funny'.
It's deplorable that when the very mention of Rolfe's character comes up, the administrators hide behind such lies as:

  • No new developments since Jul 2006
LIE. James Rolfe is contracted with gametrailers to host exclusive, FEATURED content on their site and has generated 2 million hits in under four months However, our administrator overlords have determined that he's just a one-hit wonder that amassed 200,000 hits in 5 months.

  • The Angry Video Game Nerd is not hosted on a Top 1,000,000 site
LIE. Screwattack's ranking as of July 22, 2006 was 1,156,995. However, screwattack's current ranking is 58,907, and at some points has spiked as high as 25,000. To take it a step further, Gametrailers is on the verge of breaking 1,000, coming in at 1,255. Of course, according to our wise and all-knowing administrators, the AVGN does not exist, nor does he work for Gametrailers.

  • James Rolfe's site is not in the Top 1,000,000
LIE. Cinemassacre's ranking as of July 22, 2006 was 3,905,515. At present, the ranking is 108,158.

The behavior exhibited by administrators over this whole issue has been nothing short of despicable. Did you know that they've even gone so far as to manually enter screwattack as a spam website and threaten to ban people that link to the site? Guru Larry was threatened to be banned after editing an article to include a link to ScrewAttack Europe. User talk:86.137.215.146 What's next? Ban gametrailers for hosting screwattack?
This blatant, malicious attack from wikipedia knows no bounds. You're supposed to be an alternative encyclopedia, but petty, organized attacks like this damages the integrity of everything you supposedly stand for. SashaNein 17:46, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

GameTrailers to be erased from Wikipedia through rogue actions.

This is very petty. What's next, eliminate articles such as G4TV and Attack of the Show for daring to feature the Angry Video Game Nerd? Do you really hate this man that much that you would go to far as to delete this completely legitimate article? You could get away with stomping on screwattack, but gametrailers as well? Can your malicious intent appear any more blatant? SashaNein 01:34, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and the prediction I made yesterday that they would try their damnedest to remove Gametrailers for hosting screwattack content came true. Unbelieveable. SashaNein 02:09, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
  • I agree, theres no need to delete this page, nor screwattack.com nor AVGN. Whoever this 'editor' is needs to let his petty grudge go and man up. The Ravager 03:15, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

You know, go ahead an put tags on this article to be deleted. GameTrailers' exceedingly intelligent userbase has come to the consensus that they don't care. Kill this article, rogues. Go for it.SashaNein 19:17, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Bonus Round

Did you know that all of the little facts on the right of the Bonus Round Video come from Wikipedia? It's kind of funny don't you guys think?

No they don't...a few of them I do recognize, but a lot of them I can't find on the wiki.

MTVN Sponsored Links White Page

As of 24 September 2007, the main page and succeeding content point to a drab-looking Overture query page. Is there restructuring going on? —Nahum Reduta 00:34, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

NPOV Disputed - Doctored GRID XBOX 360 and PS3 footage by GT

 Not done

I am a fan of Gametrailers, but unfortunately an incident came up where GT used doctored footage in a comparison video for a game called GRID. The incident was covered by Kotaku, and was noted on this site with proper references. It was removed for 'POV' issues by User:TonicBH. It may need to be reworded, especially the 'red handed' part in particular which was inserted by some other anonymous IP to remove the neutral tone, but to remove it altogether is a clear disruption of the article's neutral point of view. 75.66.233.162 (talk) 18:39, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

This is back in dispute, as an administrator removed the well sourced facts. I don't care if he has the tools. Insisting that the neutral point of view statements were poorly sourced is inaccurate. That was wrong. 75.66.233.162 (talk) 17:24, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Being an admin has nothing to do with it. Devoting nearly a third of the article to that one incident is blatant undue weight. Also, blogs have no editorial oversight and are not reliable sources. The information removed was undue weight for such a small article and overly specific for a general knowledge encyclopedia. Mr.Z-man 17:32, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
WP:VG has a list of outlets that are considered reliable sources in the field of video gaming. Kotaku and Joystiq are on this list. It needed to be shortened, but to remove it outright while saying unfavorable things about the sources that are in direct conflict with consensus is wrong. 75.66.233.162 (talk) 17:40, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Then shorten it instead of complaining and making a bunch of bad faith assumptions and accusing me of censorship. Mr.Z-man 17:46, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
You've already made it clear that you won't allow references from Kotaku and Joystiq, leaving the information uncited and subject to immediate removal. You're in control, so do what you please with your article. 75.66.233.162 (talk) 23:30, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
No, now you're just being difficult, my apologies for not being aware of every single guideline of every single project. Even though I'm not a member, I should know the VG project guidelines anyway. After you presented that link to the acceptable sources list, where did I say they could not be used? Mr.Z-man 23:40, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Spam Link Comes Back

I removed the link "HQGameTrailers GameTrailers Alternative." from the external links section because it's spam. Someone brought it back (without comment) so I removed it again. Before putting it back (again) please explain to the rest of us how it complies with the Wikipedia Spam guidlines. -- MadDreamChant (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 18:20, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Suggestions to improve the article

This article is not par with other gaming-website articles and last I checked someone removed some good information. Why not include content about the history of Gametrailers and have more in-depth information about their original shows like Bonus Round, Retrospectives, and their other shows? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.230.106.234 (talk) 00:03, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

- I came to this article looking for information about where GameTrailers is located, its corporate history, etc... The site seems to be doing well, so adding this information would be great to know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Antoniogaud (talkcontribs) 12:33, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

its located in san fransisco, i think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.26.1.211 (talk) 06:27, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Wow!

That new section about their Bias to Xbox is very unprofessional. Not that I disagree exactly...I think they LIKE the Xbox more than the Ps3, and thus; have an opinion.

But since so many people say that they're biased towards Xbox, it may be worth reporting. So instead of saying "GT is biased" say something more true like,

"Many consumers and critics have stated that GT is biased, saying things like 'They gave MGS4 an 8 with it's story but gave Halo 3 a 9!'

Something like that... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.135.101.78 (talk) 19:28, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Well, someone deleted it. That's a relief. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.135.101.78 (talk) 00:58, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

I was the one who deleted that bit about comparing Halo's story score to that of MGS4. It really served no purpose. If someone is curious about how they score games, they should visit the site, not it's page in Wikipedia. 24.74.98.148 (talk) 01:30, 17 September 2009 (UTC) Jeff

Did GT.com go bankrupt, i didnt see any signs or petitions
