Selected articles[edit]

There was a question asked at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2018 June 15 about the copyright status of a collection of selected articles. I think this was correctly removed. We don't know what criteria were used for the selection of those articles, and if it's anything other than something purely mechanical (e.g. all articles she's ever published) then it is very likely to be copyrighted. The concerns are mostly with the language used, which needs some copyediting e.g. "Crespi withdrew from her activity in 1987, to commit to the search for spirituality" - what does "withdrew from her activity" mean? Does it mean she retired, or something else? And what does "commit to the search for spirituality" mean? Possibly this is better in Italian. One of the tags also says that the article isn't linked from any other articles, can you add some links from other pages pointing to this one? Hut 8.5 18:15, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

→ Thank you, I will edit the text, but unfortunately I don't think there are any Wikipedia pages quoting Crespi, because she worked much more before the internet, but there are many design magazines and books I linked. Is it not enough?

Being orphaned relates to whether it is possible to find the article from other Wikipedia articles, not whether the article itself links to anything. Right now there isn't any way to get to this article from anywhere else in Wikipedia apart from typing her name into the search bar. This isn't a particularly big deal though. Are there any lists of sculptors or interior designers she could be added to? Has she worked with anyone else who has a Wikipedia article? Hut 8.5 21:29, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

→ Hello, I'm writing here about the possibility to include a photo in the info box. I personally contacted Gherardo Crespi asking for the permission to use his photo for the article and he sent the permission message to Wikipedia. I don't understand why the photo still ends up to be removed. Does someone know something about this? Thank you.

This page has been wrongly deleted. No Copyright violation exists. The Wall Street Journal Magazine (May 2015), on the last page of the article "A Reclusive Returns" by Derek Blasberg, specifies on the left margin of the page: "Courtesy of Gabriella Crespi." This photo was not shooted by James Mollison in 2015, it was taken in 1970 by Gherardo Crespi, Gabriella Crespi's son. MisterNick101 (talk) 06:51, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, which means that permission was granted for the Wall Street Journal to use the photo, not that the photo is entirely free-to-use by Wikipedia standards. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 07:09, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
