corn in rome?[edit]
the 'collector of corn' is a strange term, since corn was invented in central america, and was not known in europe until the time of columbus, over one thousand years after the roman period this article is discussing.
1. Corn wasn't invented. 2. More importantly 'corn' is the most well-used forms of describing grain in Ancient Rome; because of the 'corn dole' as it is called. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.158.244 (talk) 05:57, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
What is meant by "genie"?[edit]
The article has this quote that I find rather confusing:
There are a number of inscriptions honouring the genie of the Castra Peregrina
What does "genie" mean in this context? Is it referring to a jinn? Because I don't think the Romans believed in those. Or is it talking about the mythological genius? Or is it something else entirely?
