Silver-gilt star[edit]

Please see this article:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver-gilt

We should revert the War cross star back to a gold star, because, if we use a silver star for a corps citation, what star would we then use for a divisional level citation, which is denoted by a silver star? It would be unable to differ if we use a silver star for both cases... 2001:7E8:D3FE:7A01:60F4:711B:E7AC:50DB (talk) 17:47, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As mentionned before, there is no gold star grade for this award. I invite you to upload a silver-gilt star on the commons to use it there. Using a gold star is voluntarily introducing a mistake in the article, as well as misleading the reader. Furthermore, your point on the citation level does not stand : palms can be used, and do not indicate any citation level. The citations are clearly written beside the decoration and there is no confusion possible.

CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 19:37, 26 July 2019 (UTC) Edit: to put it simply, you are introducing a new issue. The core problem is the lack of a silver-gilt star. Therefore the use of a temporary silver star. If an additional golden star is used, you're creating an other problem: there's still no silver gilt star, and a pure invention (the gold star) is introduced. Now you've got two problems instead of one.[reply]

I have no problem at all, if I read the "Silver-gilt" article.

Plus, see these two articles, I mean the photos and description lines:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croix_de_Guerre_1939%E2%80%931945_(France)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croix_de_guerre_1914%E2%80%931918_(France) 2001:7E8:D3FE:7A01:8883:8BFD:D249:9800 (talk) 17:41, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

And, ESPECIALLY, how do you explain the following photo on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croix_de_guerre_des_th%C3%A9%C3%A2tres_d%27op%C3%A9rations_ext%C3%A9rieures 2001:7E8:D3FE:7A01:8883:8BFD:D249:9800 (talk) 17:47, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problem at all, if I read the "Silver-gilt" article. You really don't seem to understand at all what I'm saying, it's quite disturbing. I didn't say you had a problem, I said you created a new problem. I've also read and edited the articles linked, that were erroneous.
Now for the problem itself. The explanation is quite simple : patina. We French call silver-gilt Vermeil. While Vermeil has small amounts of gold, it is still silver. It gives to the metal a unique colour, between the white of the silver and the color of the gold (that can be yellow or grey). Vermeil is not gold and does not possess its color. It has its own. You can actually see in the silver-gilt article a picture of a cooler that doesn't have the gold color.
Therefore my invitation to upload a silver-gilt star on Wikimedia commons. A gold star should not be used. Regards. CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 18:50, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Edit : I've made some research on you. You appear to be User:Claudevsq, editing under a number of anonymous ips. Watching some of your talk pages, you seem to be quite often involved in edit warring and edit against consensus. You've been warned multiple times. It also looks like you are using the "I don't understand" pretense because you don't like being proven wrong and/or being reverted. I link for you to read WP:5P3, WP:5P4 and WP:IDHT. You have clearly understood, you just don't want to acknowledge it. CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 20:34, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Since you continue to ask the help of your acquaintances even after I responded and don't bother to do so here, I conclude you don't want dialogue anymore, nor has you ever want it. You just really don't like opposition. In light of this situation, I will resolve this issue myself by uploading a silver-gilt star on the commons. You are welcome. CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 07:06, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If I would not want to resolve this problem, I would not be here on the talk page, no? I've asked some other users to chime in as well, but I think it is rather YOU who wants to be the only one to be right... Remember: I did not change the star, I created the awards section some time ago, YOU changed the star, and I came here to discuss. So, accuse me of what you want, but for sure not of the fact that I am not trying hard to discuss things... Normally, we discuss, and THEN, we change or not, but you made the change without even considering the difference between corps-level citation and divisional-level citation, but if you want to upload a silver-gilt star, let's wait and see... J'espère vraiment que vous allez en trouver un! claudevsq (talk) 07:57, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No, I would rather think you came here to seek support from friends instead of debating. You did not respond to any of my argument for the records. That itself prove you're not here to discuss.
Remember: I did not change the star, I created the awards section some time ago, YOU changed the star, and I came here to discuss.
At that point I start to think you assume ownership of the article. You should also take into consideration that I simply corrected information.
Normally, we discuss, and THEN, we change or not, but you made the change without even considering the difference between corps-level citation and divisional-level citation
Except that is blatantly false, since I added the exact levels of citation beside the ribbon, as it was written on the website of the Ministry of the Armies.
but if you want to upload a silver-gilt star, let's wait and see...
What should I wait and see ?
J'espère vraiment que vous allez en trouver un!
I'm not sure what you mean by that. You seem to take it very personal, I'm very sorry if my reverts hurt your feelings. Keep in mind I edited only two lines of your entire contribution. I even offered a solution. Regards. CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 08:41, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Stop picking everything apart. By let's wait and see, I mean let's see if you find a suitable star... Plus, I have no friends online, only co-editors who are editing these kind of articles... Please expect no further response from me, since you are on purpose picking my posts apart, instead of simply reading them and acknowledging the fact I just try to help. claudevsq (talk) 09:40, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Stop picking everything apart.
I will not stop, it helps me respond to each of your sentences and tell you when they are wrong (it's even in bold).
You will be happy to know I have added the correct silver-gilt star to the article.
since you are on purpose picking my posts apart, instead of simply reading them and acknowledging the fact I just try to help
Nope, I'm doing something called debating, that you affirm you were seeking there (or were you ?). At least be honest : you were not trying to help. Case closed for me. Regards. CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 10:09, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Official portrait[edit]

I have asked the Ministry of the Armies the authorization to use the official portrait of François Lecointre. I'll post the outcome, positive or not, so that it will be known if his portrait can be used. CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 18:56, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
