This article is not telling the whole story, because the flame ist not just a gift "to the city of Paris by the International Herald Tribune on behalf of donors as part of the newspaper's centennial celebrations in 1987". It was a retribution for the service rendered-BEFORE- to the city of New York by the french, wheny they cleaned and restaured the STATUE OF LIBERTY,as you can clearly read in the french article of the french wikipedia. So, I just think it shoul be corrected. Thanks.

You have to read again the french text and you will understand how The New-York Herald Tribune managed this operation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JAGRAIN (talkcontribs) 17:42, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
