Juridical Impact section[edit]

Mr Speaker Bercow has expressed in my presence the opinion that Mr Speaker Lenthall was the greatest of his predecessors for the reason I have given, that his speech in defence of the Five Members was the point at which Parliament no longer answered to the King, but to itself by derogation from the People. It is therefore essential in juridical history that the legal impact be explicitly expounded, as from that stems the concept of government of the people by the people for the people, a point which has still not been fully accepted in the UK as the dominion of a two-party political system dating back to at least the Tory-Whig system of Walpole's first full-time Parliament means the Parties tend to consider the People bound to their dogmas, resulting in considerable alienation in the modern day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.193.91.167 (talk) 14:25, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
