change in ownership, manufacturing[edit]

I met Jose (or Juan?) Colon last year at Don Rey Cigars at La Placita. He said he was a partner in the group who bought Barrillito last year. He also said that Barrillito did not have a distillery but bought the base rum from Bacardi. This is of course very common in the spirits industry these days - see how many 'boutique' whiskeys in the US are actually made from base stock made by MGP. Later, another party who is a Bacardi associate insisted that Bacardi bought it. It may be that they were part of the partnership? I don't know the facts.
