What is the line about a "chimney" about - a crematorium reference? Drutt 22:47, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's out of context. The vocals are sampled from a song called "Wanna Drop a House (On That Bitch)". Chsf 21:58, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Urban Discharge's Wanna Drop a House on That Bitch references the start of The Wizard of Oz, where a tornado blows a farmhouse onto the Wicked Witch of the East. Very American. The band in Europe eventually picked up on this meaning, which is why Maya started dressing as Dorothy and carrying a stuffed Toto the dog in performances - as shown in her Christmas 1998 Top of the Pops performance, as just one example. Toto getting thrown aside is frankly disturbing to animal lovers. Her red outfit and shoes can also be seen as a reference to the ruby slippers of Oz.[1] 118.208.247.239 (talk) 19:44, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
...and, over fifteen years later, Maya was still throwing her stuffed Toto to the wind, but, due to budget cuts, had to remove her preserved Dorothy dress herself. The text of the article should acknowledge this reference/appropriation.[2] 118.208.247.239 (talk) 22:54, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I remember hearing at the time that "Feel It" was the first song ever to get permission to sampe a Jackson's' track - but can find no other sources saying this. DOes anyone else remember this, and have an verifiable proof? 149.254.200.220 22:43, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are earlier samples of The Jacksons on record. For example, Desire by The Gap Band sampled Can You Feel It in 1986.[3] 118.208.247.239 (talk) 03:20, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If You Buy This Record Your Life Will Be Better was, apparently, the first time Madonna allowed her music to be sampled, which might be relevant here. 118.208.247.239 (talk) 11:06, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Looking around the net the 'chimney' lyrics is quite clearly from the urban discharge sample, but I can't find the original lyrics anywhere. Please add / link if you can find them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thelem (talkcontribs) 23:16, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This lyric from an updated version makes the connection between dropping a house (Oz) and the chinmey line clear.[4] 118.208.247.239 (talk) 03:29, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
