stubs that need to be completed

i was rather suprised when i logged on to find that there were no articles for some of Fellini's films; not even stubs. So ive gone and put short/stub articles so at least there is something for all of Fellini's films. I will continue to add to these articles when i have time but until then, i urge somebody to go ahead and write one or two of these.--zachjones4 16:28, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Gushing prose

Bit heavy on the compliments, is this article. It should really be written from a less strongly advocative point of view. Chris Cunningham 21:10, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

I can't find references to MANY of the points in this article

Can anyone point me to a reference that says that Fellini met Che Guevara or that he lived in the states? I'm new here, and i would love to help on this piece but i'm confused by the lack of references.

Thanks and be well,

Jorge

Per debate and discussion re: assessment of the approximate 100 top priority articles of the project, this article has been included as a top priority article. Wildhartlivie (talk) 11:27, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Shouldn't this article somehow point to ?
--Jerome Potts (talk) 05:21, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Uh...

What happened to the "Nostalgia, Sexuality and Politics" section? Or, in other words, the entire decade of the '70s in his life and work? There's only a sentence there. I take it someone was unhappy with what was written and or annoying? SF —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.237.215.151 (talk) 07:10, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Nothing happened to the section: it was given a heading and is now under construction. So it's a simple question of writing up that decade. Having already devoted a great deal of time to this article (check edit history), I thought I deserved a break. --Jumbolino (talk) 07:37, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

A Plea

It doesn't take Basil Rathbone portraying Sherlock Holmes to see that this is basically a well-written and well-structured article that's been hacked up and rendered incomplete, discontinuous, and incoherent by careless editors--in places. Can someone who appreciates Fellini and is familiar with the necessary resources please edit this to a coherent whole? Please? Many thanks if possible! Tapered (talk) 06:24, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Over the past few weeks, I've devoted long hours to this article (consult edit history) cleaning up prose, pov, unsourced statements, adding stream-lined footnotes (as per Wiki guidelines), a more complete awards list and filmography section, and better references. Fully familiar with the subject, I also re-structured the article using headings set to a carefully researched timeline (as per Wiki guidelines). In other words, shaped it into your so-called "well-written and well-structured" article. So nothing's been hacked up or rendered incomplete and as a Wikipedian, I'm perfectly open to any improvements. Lacking the time to complete various sections, those sections-in-progress naturally appear as "incomplete" or "discontinuous". Not being a careless editor, I strive to find several hours at a stretch to work on the article but that's a difficult thing to do given my schedule. In the meantime, I greatly appreciate fellow editors who contribute their expertise on the subject and help build up the article rather than simply complain about it. --Jumbolino (talk) 10:40, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Article-in-progress

A note to indicate that the article is work-in-progress: some sections have not been worked on or refined by editors and there's a good deal left to improve so a little patience and editing are welcome. --Jumbolino (talk) 21:33, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Fellini and Kubrick

I removed Kubrick's name from the list of contemporay film makers; all the others are still I think alive and it read oddly. A quick piece of Googling did not reveal an admission of an influence on Kubrick's part, and for the obvious reason of SK's reclusiveness might not exist. I think though Kubrick should be included in the 'Influence and legacy' section, A Clockwork Orange is marked by the Italian's work, but I could not see a way to point this out without falling into the OR trap. Philip Cross (talk) 16:04, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

You’re right to remove Kubrick from contemporary filmmakers section + challenge unsourced statement that SK was influenced by FF. But I agree SK should be mentioned given his interest in Fellini’s work and propose: 1) mentioning SK in paragraph on films of Wojciech Has (who also died a decade ago) and 2) backing it up with quotation from Hollis Alpert’s biography of Fellini: “directors such as Mike Nichols and Stanley Kubrick held him in highest regard, but their opinions seldom found their way into print” (Fellini: A Life, 236). Will also include (in the appropriate section) another source about FF seeking SK's advice on English-language dubbing for And the Ship Sails On. --Jumbolino (talk) 22:36, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Article-still-in-progress

Potentially, articles are always in progress. The "Nostalgia, Sexuality and Politics" section has been unchanged since May, and it reads very badly. When you get around to filling this section with relevant text, I look forward to reading it - sounds interesting. Until then I am reverting to my edit once again - it is easier on the eye and the brain. Regards, Mannafredo (talk) 11:38, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Right you are. A shame you can't contribute. --Jumbolino (talk) 11:52, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Mmm, I would argue that any acceptable edit is a contribution. Mannafredo (talk) 16:29, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
One minor edit... one giant leap for Wiki. --Jumbolino (talk) 00:35, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

expansion

I think that a legend in cinema diserves a little more than a simple timeline. I and many others would appreciate it if someone with a knowledge of his life, and more importantly, his film technique, spent some time with this article. Thanks.

It really needs an expansion. It's curious that other italian directors that are at most as renowned as Fellini, like Pasolini and Antonioni, got such better articles. Jlpspinto 03:54, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

The Fellini article needs improvement (although much improved since 2006) and expansion but the Antonioni does as well. To my mind, both articles are on the same "start" level. The Pasolini, however, reads very well indeed. I'm hoping to contribute my two cents shortly. 82.123.75.107 08:39, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah no kidding. If someone could write a section on how Fellini went from neorealism to an increasingly surreal style, that could improve this article a bit. Maybe I will - need to read more on this subject first. Igorrr 09:34, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you very much!!

Regarding the shift from neorealism, the legacy section doesn't make clear that "Felliniesque" refers only to the surreal style and not at all to the earlier neorealism -- a misrepresentation of his legacy and misleading to anyone who has seen perhaps only the neorealist films.Robcuny 02:01, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

I thought Ginger and Fred (1986) deserved mention, in the discussion of his films. 122.116.120.124 (talk) 10:14, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

LSD

Who rewrote the LSD section to remove the reference to his embarrassment at having taken it? The section sounds like it is glorifying the experience, and seems to overstate the drug's influence on his later work. 123.243.126.49 (talk) 09:24, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

Italic text==La Strada and LSD in 1964?==

I agree with the above, too much importance placed on subsequent films from a single experience.

There's something else wrong here, La Strada was made in 1954 not 1964 can Fellini really had easy access to LSD in 1954 ? More likely to have been 1964 surely. So what's right here at all ? Norwikian (talk) 20:22, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

Article clearly states the following: "In 1964, Fellini experimented with LSD 25 under the supervision of Emilio Servadio, his psychoanalyst during production of La strada." In other words, Fellini experimented with LSD in 1964 under the supervision of Servadio, the psychiatrist he consulted during the production of La strada in 1954. Straightforward. --Jumbolino (talk) 17:36, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

More Images needed.

This WP article has only one image of Fellini, whereas the Italian language WP article has lots of really good photos. I tried to transfer one, but was unsuccessful (even though I tried everything I could think of). Perhaps someone with better computer skills and/or more WP editing experience may be able to succeed in transferring them. They would be a great addition to this article. 96.236.213.217 (talk) 18:23, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

The Journey of G. Mastorna called Fernet

There doesn't seem to be a section or reference at all to this unfinished work. Italian wikipedia however has a full page on it.

Academy Awards

The opening paragraphs claim that Fillini won five Academy Awards. He didn't win any Academy Awards. An Honorary Academy Award, yes, but not an official, competitive Academy Award. Corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.90.232.145 (talk) 06:29, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

You are technically right, but probably we can consider also the four academy award for best foreign film.--Louisbeta (talk) 14:38, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Signor Fellini

Who is Signor Fellini??? Is "Signor" Fellini's middle name? I've been reading some articles and some seem to indicate they are the same person but it is confusing.

Also in some subtitles I have for Intervista it mentions the name "Signor Fellini" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.106.238.174 (talk) 17:38, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Timeline of family life troubling?

I saw that there is a reference for the birth of Fellini's child in 1944, but is anybody else troubled by the seemingly impossibly short timeline? How is it that they are married in October 1943, have a miscarriage, and then ALSO give birth to a child five months later? I suggest that either the miscarriage is unsupported or unverifiable (and that she was pregnant at time of marriage) or that numbers have otherwise been fudged. Can anyone verify this miscarriage? -Jeff 2602:306:310D:1100:129A:DDFF:FEB3:2080 (talk) 12:32, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Good point. I've corrected the date (22 March 1945) using Tullio Kezich's critical biography of the Maestro. --Jumbolino (talk) 20:19, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Influences

Who delete "Ingmar Bergman" in the "influenced" title? Just one reference enough to show this clear influence on Bergman.

"He showed it (Hour of the Wolf) to me when he came to Rome. Its fantasy is completely different from mine, more Nordic. I would call Hour of the Wolf Bergman's 8 1/2. Indeed, he confesses candidly that he has seen all my films and cites them in his own. Being a rich, an authentic artist, he can borrow from others without any guilt of plagiarism. I value Bergman a lot. He is a real man of spectacle and images, one of the best." - Federico Fellini - — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.180.145.190 (talk) 19:52, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

At the same time, Kubrick was influenced by Fellini. Not just about Kubrick said that Fellini one of his favourite directors.

"Kubrick never visited many people; he never had very many friends. One of his chances to see them was November 5, Guy Fawkes' Day and a national holiday that the town-area of St. Albans celebrates with fantastic fireworks. "Stanley heard very often from just a few people: Jack Nicholson and Ryan O'Neal, whose daughter Tatum played with Kubrick's daughters. When he made 2001: A Space Odyssey, he saw both George C. Scott and Peter Sellars quite often. And he also really liked Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota. At that point he became friends with George Lucas and then there was Steven Spielberg. Lately Tom Cruise... I repeat, when he had to check in with someone, he did it over the telephone. He and Federico Fellini, for example, heard from each other very frequently, but because Kubrick didn't speak a word of Italian I served as interpreter. Kubrick was curious. He would have me ask Fellini how he had filmed a specific scene, and then he'd want to know how on Earth Nino Rota had settled on that particular music; and Fellini would respond to me. They shared their opinions on Italian films..."
