Not at this time. There have been quite literally dozens of attempts over the last 15 years to get some kind of legislation passed; each time it was shut down, or shut out and let expire. The bottom line is that even if they ever did somehow get a bill of this type to pass into law, it would be shot down by the US Supreme Court. It violates hundreds of various (many long-standing) US Civil Codes, free speech, and privacy. The movie ratings restriction was shut down by 39 states, even though it was passed as a civil statute (states may chose to abide by said, not mandated as with law). If this was ever signed into civil code, (probably the only way we'd ever see it in today's environment), one could expect the same state-based response to this issue as well. They won't be passed, and aren't meant to be passed. They're unconstitutional, in addition to the qualms mentioned by Lostinlodos. They're meant to put illegimate pressure on the ESRB and videogame developers to not MAKE MA-rated games (AO-ratings are already the sales equivalent of a scarlet letter). All in all, even though it's a tiny issue on our country's stage and I would never vote based off of it, I'm glad that Hillary Clinton's hands won't be all up on my 360. --Hawkian (talk) 15:11, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
