I'm struggling to make sense of the claim that Family Circle sold so many copies because it was only sold through supermarkets. Apart from that, claims about number of copies of a magazine sold should be backed up by reference to ABC data. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.166.160.105 (talk) 20:38, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
At the time, supermarkets didn't usually sell magazines, making Family Circle often the only title available, and they were placed at the checkouts to maximise sales. Good luck with finding ABC data from the period, if you do it will be a great reference - but the cited work is reliable and gives the same information.
