Assistance needed adding a reference for Joe Smith

Help! Please review my un-installed edit. I cannot get the syntax right without errors for the following attempted reference:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elektra_Records "He would be replaced by Joe Smith, who later went on to become CEO of Capitol Records."

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes) /* 1970s (Asylum Records merger) */ Added a reference to Joe Smith's being Capitol's CEO which appeared on his book's jacket.

Reference with syntax errors, Help!: ^[1]

"|publisher=FolkLib Index" is not required, but the syntax is wrong whether it's there or not.
