I'm not sure what the best form of disambiguation is here, and I don't object to it being changed, but "British colonial official" is not going to cut it to disambiguate against Gen. How about Edward Nicolls (engineer) and/or Edward Nicolls (Royal Marines officer)? Undoubtedly the 1779-1865 Edward is more notable, but disambiguation of both pages could be helpful?
