Summer temperatures[edit]

According to the text inland temperatures are below freezing the yyear around. These areas would then be permanently ice-covered. They are not. Insead, it is the coast which is chilly in summer, and the inland heats up to temperatures allowing for the development of forests (taiga) in many areas.
