Were there really 4 Lords of Dalkeith?[edit]

I think there were only 3 people with the title Lord of Dalkeith:

James d 1441 (married Elizabeth Stewart)

James d 1457 (married Elizabeth Gifford)

James d 1493 (married Joan/Joanna Stewart, created 1st Earl of Morton)

These are grandfather, father, son.

This is what thepeerage.com says (22 Dec 2011) and the dates make this reasonable.

(what this implies is that the 2nd and the 3rd in the article are the same person)

Anyone got access to other authoritative sources - I have the feeling that others on the internet are all interdependent?

Morton Castle[edit]

I do not think that Morton Castle was ever a seat of the earls of Morton. Is there evidence to show it was? Shipsview (talk) 14:41, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
