Found?[edit]

It says he's reported to be found, but nowhere does it talk about when he was even missing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.53.50.113 (talk) 08:00, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

missing leads you to think NO ONE KNOWS where they are....his where abouts where known...but at a very need to know basis amongst family maybe friends... but his whereabouts where publically found. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.115.255.33 (talk) 23:44, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reference[edit]

Is there a reference that confirms he was born in Little Rock AR.Questionable pulse (talk) 01:44, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Earl's father[edit]

His father is listed as Keorapetse William Kgositsile. While there's a reference, I noticed that on Kgositsile's page his birth year is 1938. This seems like an inordinately long time gap between the two, considering Earl was born in 1994.

I have a suspicion that something is inaccurate here: either The New Yorker got it wrong somehow, or Kgositsile's information is incorrect. If Kgositsile is actually Earl's father and everything is accurate then that's fine, but I'm a bit thrown off by the gap.

also, if you notice tyler the creator has been changed to Tyler the masturbater at the bottom, lol, i think someones messing with this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.6.99.12 (talk) 06:29, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think there needs to be a little bit more about Earl's biography, it seems too short, I mentioned that his father left him when he was six, that is just a reference from his song chum. I think there needs to be more about him and his personal life other than his career life. Somuchinsite (talk) 06:43, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Back in LA Rumors[edit]

I'm thinking we need to avoid discussing the rumors in the article until there is definitive proof... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.48.54.62 (talk) 02:56, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The date is wrong, it says february 8, 2011, instead of 2012*. and i think even if isnt true it worth including because its a bit of an internet/twitter phenomenon right now . and there is a new twitter, that I do believe is his, created on Feb 8th, @earlxsweat. its feb 9th today, and there are like 88,000 followers, he follows 11. His first tweet was "Home." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.2.170.249 (talk) 19:20, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Material?[edit]

New track just appeared on the internet. However tweets by Tyler and Hodgy aren't all that conclusive about the authenticity of it. http://terttlefer.com/ 58.108.188.143 (talk) 04:38, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What evidence is there to merit a "TBA (2012)" entry in the discography section? 72.136.175.211 (talk) 00:38, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Something needs to be added about his producer name, randomblackdude. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.239.43.141 (talk) 04:14, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 9 February 2012[edit]

The website should be changed from oddfuture.com to the website he released his new track on. http://terttlefer.com/

It doesn't seem too legit but it was linked to from his Twitter page.

Record Label[edit]

There is, as of yet, no evidence that Earl Sweatshirt is signed to Odd Future Records. Mongeese (talk) 00:40, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We, Fox Rothschild LLP, currently represent Earl Sweatshirt. His label information is incorrect. He is NOT signed to Odd Future Records. He is currently on Columbia Records through his own imprint Tan Cressida Records. Please update. Contact me with any questions or concerns. jmoore@foxrothschild.com

Edit Request August 30[edit]

Buddhist?[edit]

The page is categorized as "African American Buddhists." Is there a citation for this? 12.86.94.46 (talk) 03:30, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mavi[edit]

Right now, Mavi (rapper) redirects to Earl Sweatshirt. Is there any reason Mavi shouldn't have his own page? A quick Google search shows that he has been covered in several major music publications (Pitchfork, Complex, FactMag, etc) WhatsImportantToMe (talk) 14:07, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

hi @WhatsImportantToMe – the idea you have for creating a new page for Mavi seems like a good one to me.
The reason, I think this is a good idea is because, as the Google search you did showed, Mavi, "...has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself."
In case you're curious, the quoted bit above comes from the page that describes the criteria that must be met for a musician to have an article on Wikipedia: Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Criteria for musicians and ensembles.
If you decide to create the article, I'd be happy to read it over to see if there any improvements I think would be worthwhile to make. Stussll (talk) 03:34, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also, here are some links to sources that I think would be helpful should you decide to write the article:

Sounds good - I'll get started on it soon

Earl’s Horrorcore[edit]

Hey, I’d like to know if you think it would be ok to remove the (Early) label from Horrorcore on this page. Regarding only the facts, Earl made Horrorcore music for over half his career (this is a rough number). What do you guys think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MaybeItIsNotReal (talkcontribs) 17:59, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There's no mention of horrorcore anywhere in the article, should it even be in the infobox? Schazjmd (talk) 18:20, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, because it is the genre for “Earl”, and his albums following have a dark, scary vibe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MaybeItIsNotReal (talkcontribs) 03:25, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

calling him by his last name 70 times instead of ever referring to him by his first name (thebe) or earl[edit]

this entire article sounds like shit when its read out loud. whoever wrote this mess of an article calls him "Kgositsile" 70 times which is his last name...never once is his given name thebe used and never once is he called earl. by the second paragraph it sounds like a mouthful of potatoes..this needs to be fixed because it sounds so unbelievably retardedand super disrespectful. think about how any one of you would feel if you read your wiki page and it only mentioned you by your last name. nobody wants that. Snarevox (talk) 22:41, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

hell not only do they not use thebe or earl, they never even really say 'he' its like they had a fetish for his last name...it really is ridiculous. Snarevox (talk) 22:43, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
fixed every stupid instance. (Personal attack removed) Snarevox (talk) 23:30, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In the article we use his last name (i.e. "Kgositsile") because the Manual of Style states that "after the initial mention, a person should generally be referred to by surname only ... or may be referred to by a pronoun. Generally speaking, subjects should not otherwise be referred to by their given name." This is standard practice on biographical articles in Wikipedia, see for example The Notorious B.I.G.
On another note, please do not attack other editors as you did here and in edit summaries. --Kzkzb (talk) 23:49, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
