Princess Marie zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst (Venice, 28 December 1855 – Lautschin, 16 February 1934). The writer and poet Rainer Maria Rilke wrote the Duino Elegies in the castle while visiting the Princess Marie von Thurn und Taxis (born Princess of Hohenlohe). Rilke subsequently devoted his work to the princess, who was one of his biggest patrons.
