Too far off topic?

Okay, so I have seen the article, seen what was wrong with it, and went forward to be bold in updating articles -- or, at least, improve them.

First, I wiped out a chunk of paragraph related to a review of the album by some loser at AllMusic. (WHY DO WE EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO THEM? WHY IS WIKIPEDIA LITTERED WITH "FACTOIDS" THAT BEGIN AND END WITH THESE PEOPLE AT ALLMUSIC.COM?) I didn't erase what the "journalist" said, but what the contributor thought he really meant:

Allmusic reviewer Greg Prato states the song "embraces modern pop",[1] but he probably was just referring to the songs[sic] chart position[,] because if a song charts in the top 40's[sic], then it is sometimes called pop. Just like most of The Cars['] hits, it received heavy airplay on classic rock radio stations

Well, bless his heart! I'm sure he's only trying to prevent this great 1980s rock band from being pigeonholed as "pop" by modern standards (which, I'm told, are worse than ever, but honestly? I recently spent a whole day listening to Katy Perry and I thought she was pretty good. One hell of a lot better than that Debbie Gibson crap that was going around like a virulent flu virus during my adolesence.)

But yeah, I tore that right out, leaving only Greg Prato's name and quotation.

I also removed some tortorus nonsense about the lead vocals. Somebody somewhere in this article's past didn't seem to understand that one person can still be considered as "singing the lead", even if there are other vocalists in the background, oohing and aahing.

Now, some of what I wrote might need some surgery, as well, but I'm not the guy to do it. I realize there's a whole paragraph about "Shoo Be Do" in here, which is a whole other song -- at least, technically and lyrically. In the artistic sense, I would say "Shoo Be Do" is just a deliberately-disorienting link passage, or transition from "Double Life" to "Candy-O". I wrapped this all up with a comparison of Side Two of the debut Cars album, how its seamless sequence tempted radio programmers (or D.J.s, back in the day) to play more than one cut from the album.

So, at least I had a point. But if anyone thinks I go on too long about "Shoo Be Do", by all means, trim it down. Just please don't revert to any stupider past versions instead.
