Future extension[edit]

Whilst an extension of the line to Osbaldwick may be possible, I doubt very much that there are any serious plans to go back to Layerthorpe. Firstly, there has been at least one house built on the track bed since closure, and secondly the trackbed beyond Osbaldwick has been converted into a cycle and footpath, closure of which is likely to be heavily opposed. I can find no evidence from the DVLR website that they have any expansion plans, let alone to Layerthorpe, so unless some citation can be found, I propose to remove this sentence. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 20:47, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up - the claim has been edited to There are plans to extend the line along side the cycle path up through Osbaldwick and Layerthorpe railway stations to Rawcliffe near York in which the line would Exchange and Interchange with the York to Scarborough Line and also down to Skipwith (a holiday resort) in the near future. I've removed this as it's almost certainly a hoax or wishful thinking - if there is any citable evidence for expansion, please provide it. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 21:45, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, impossible now. Derwenthorpe development and housing in Tang Hall makes this route unthinkable. --Chronotopian (talk) 13:09, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
