"Seditious"[edit]

Seriously, User:Neophraz, we don't need to describe his actions as potentially seditious. He stormed the Capitol Building. The legal expert cited by that particular source 1) isn't a big name 2) was speaking broadly to the actions of rioters that day. If there's any place where sedition should be mentioned, it should be in the main article. This one is for what people are saying about Derrick Evans in particular. RexSueciae (talk) 20:39, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Spengouli, would you be willing to weigh in? User:Neophraz continues to add the contested phrasing back to the article, and I am equally convinced that it should not remain. RexSueciae (talk) 22:02, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sedition is a serious accusation and without a source directly tying Evans to "sedition," such as charges being brought against him, it doesn't belong in the article for BLP issues. Spengouli (talk) 22:46, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For posterity, this page has been semi-protected so hopefully the IP stuff will go down for awhile. RexSueciae (talk) 23:00, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@RexSueciae and Spengouli: As User:Neophraz refuses to discuss and have ignored my warnings on their talk page and added the material for a ninth time within 24 hours, I have filed at WP:ANEW. Courtesy ping Muboshgu. Sam Sailor 16:45, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Was one of the rioters on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, January 6, 2021[edit]

To improve the entry's quality level: You should add that Mr Evans "activist" was one of the rioters who sieged the Capitol. Presumably weaponed, he was surely engaged to defend "Christian" values, but "forgot" that violence isn't a Christian value. He's just pretending to defend Christian values, but is a rioter, nothing more. Vote him away! 84.191.96.152 (talk) 10:30, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To add: Here's the link to a report in the NY Times, he was well conscious about what he was doing. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/06/us/derrick-evans-west-virginia-capitol.html. Storming the parliament is a patriotic act? He should study history - the proud Mr Evans -, what he obviously did not, to see how the story ends, especially German history between 1930 and 1945, to see how the pact with the Devil eventually ends in fire and in the destruction of the nation. We suffer until today from the consequences, which resulted of Nationalsocialism, does he really whant to destroy the proud American Nation? Just because of his youth and ignorance of history? 84.191.96.152 (talk) 10:41, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We already use the Campbell Robertson NYT article as a referenced source. We already have a whole section dedicated to the storming of the Capitol. Other than that, I will have to ask you to post a specific edit request with the changes you would like to see. "Presumably weaponed", "defending Christian values" etc., all that would have to be backed up by reliable sources.
As for the meta comments, please observe WP:NOTFORUM as mentioned in the header on this talk page. Sam Sailor 13:17, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sam Sailor Indeed, thank you, I'm sorry, I was too quick and didn't notice that the article was already implemented. "Defending Christian values" - were his one words on one of his acebook or other social media accounts, but I think, I wouldn't find it anymore.84.191.96.123 (talk) 21:14, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sam Sailor - "Presumably weaponed" - there's footage (1) where he is seen wearing a helmet and a camouflage battledress while being among the rioters. For Evans has deleted his own footage on his facebook account I'm not able to find more evidence, but I assume the costume he wore gives hint to that he had something with him what we would call "weapon", and I'm sure investigators and prosecutors will come to this as well in the interrogation.84.191.101.130 (talk) 16:50, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Resignation[edit]

Doesn't that mean that the wiki title should be changed from "Derrick Evans (politician)" to "Derrick Evans (ex-politician)"? 110.174.246.15 (talk) 13:55, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Give it a while. That he resigned doesn't necessarily means he stops being a politician. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:04, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to American Football League[edit]

This league ended around 1970 so the Mustangs team couldn't have belonged to it when Derrick Evans played. (I don't know enough to fix this reference.) Chris edits (talk) 23:00, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Chris_edits[reply]

User:Chris edits clicking through to the wiki page, it looks like the Milwaukee Mustangs being referenced here were actually a member of the Arena Football League. I'll change it! Also I'll fix the references for that section, which are a bit of a mess. Thanks for noting it here, I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. RexSueciae (talk) 23:17, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not all the information in the "Early career" section matched that which was described in the sources, so I pruned a lot. If anyone wants to add it back -- with reliable sources, for heaven's sake -- feel free to do so. RexSueciae (talk) 23:34, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
