Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because it's the real story of a murdered college student in Bogota, Colombia. There is a version of this story in Spanish on Wikipedia, but there is not one in English. This page, should it be allowed to continue, services a great need by keeping English-speaking Latinos and other interested parties abreast of a developing and hugely important situation.

The case in Colombia has already revealed attempts by various arms of law enforcement to dismiss the charges against the accused by measures of bribery, litigation tactics and other means illegal and legal. Deleting this page does not serve the public nor is it warranted on its own terms.--Vivaemptiness (talk) 18:22, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because is an English translation of a current Spanish version of a Wikipedia page http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Caso_Colmenares. I'll be providing references and citations from all sources. This is a work in progress. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vivaemptiness (talkcontribs) 17:50, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry to have to say this, but please don't spend too much time on this: it is very, very likely to be deleted soon. Drmies (talk) 17:58, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm trying to translate as fast as I can, I will have more information in the page shortly. Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vivaemptiness (talkcontribs) 19:01, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've removed the CSD tag. I'm not sure if the WP:BLP1E applies, the case received significant coverage in multiple Colombian media from 2010 to 2012,[1], [2] which suggests that the circumstances of the case might be rather unusual. Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 09:20, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • This article shouldn't be removed, this case has received HUGE exposure in Colombian media, high ranking government officials are being investigated for corruption, for being involved on modifying evidence, trying to close the case earlier and trying to change the prosecutor[1]. Also there has been a huge response and rejection from the Colombian People around the world[2], several manifestations took place around the country, people claimed for justice and the true to be revealed for Luis Andres murder[3] --Vivaemptiness (talk) 18:22, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Because most of the sources are in Spanish the update of this article is taking longer than usual. --Vivaemptiness (talk) 18:24, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Current event and high priority[edit]

I will include this article in the current event category. The topic of this article has high priority because it shows how justice operates in Colombia, it has the attention of the media for all the high profile personalities involved and it is an article about legal processes of academic interest for global readers. --Albeiror24 - English - Español - Italiano - ខ្មែរ 13:52, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
