Language Emergence[edit]

I am curious to know more about the specific history of HSL such as like when does it date back to? What makes HSL different then ASL? Also, I think finding how many people use HSL to this section would be beneficial. Lastly, I think it was important you mentioned whether or not HSL was a community sign language versus shared community sign language. Ashlynmccormick (talk) 23:03, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Significant Organizations
I think if you cannot figure out whether or not an organization is deaf or hearing led that is alright, and there is no need to state that at the end of each section. To me it seems a little redundant. Also, I think there may be a better way of organizing your information. You are able to add subheadings in Wikipedia, which then groups your information into and outline like paper instead of just adding numbers.
Human and Civil Rights
I suggest adding what the CRPD is at the beginning of this section in case your reader is unaware of what that is. Lastly, I had a hard time reading this. I feel like it could be better organized as previously mentioned, and then, it may be easier for other readers to understand your information. For example, I listed each article in bullet points, and then I went further into detail. Overall, I think you have a lot of good information here as well as scholarly sources. I know we are only required to write about 3/5 of the first topics, but I encourage you to write one more. Good luck! Ashlynmccormick (talk) 23:15, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review[edit]

Language Emergence

I agree with Ashlyn that noting the first documentation date of LSH and differences between ASL and LSH could improve this section! It's a shame that Haitians view deafness as a punishment, but it's good information to note in this section to give the readers a better understanding of why hearing people do not intend to learn about LSH or Deaf culture!

Significant Organizations

I really liked your section about OTG Missions, and I think adding more examples of what the other significant orgs have done in the past to specifically help DHH people would strengthen this section. I also liked that you included references to how The Association des Sourds de Leveque to the UNCRPD Article 11; this makes it seem like more of an empowerment organization.

Human and Civil Rights

Deaf people are below what disabled community-- mental? Physical? I know some regions refer to Deaf people as disabled, so some specificity may be good here! I feel like the last sentence might be analysis? I agree with it, and I don’t doubt that it’s true, but I just want to make sure the article is as neutral as possible for Wikipedia!
