"Development"[edit]

What does the 'development' section refer to exactly? Plot progression, manga progression? N-Denizen (talk) 19:26, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've also been wondering this. Maybe the section's there incase D-W appears in some other sort of media? Personally, i don't see a reason as to why its there now. I think it should be removed-unless it has an actual purpose. -Hormone —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.242.253.143 (talk) 19:14, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Red Man[edit]

I'm a bit sceptical about this character description. I'm under the impression that The Red Man's identity may not be so obvious - i'm open to the possibility that Shiro is not the only Red Man in the manga. The first few chapters of the manga seem to show another Red Man way before Shiro was old enough to assume his/its identity. Plus, it's an unnecessarily blatant spoiler. I would advise to alter that section to be more ambigous, because as readers we don't know enough to assume there's no more mysetery behind The Red Man N-Denizen (talk) 19:27, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shiro is the Red Man/Retched egg. The sidetext on the final page (which wasn't translated by Snoopycool) said: "Shiro is the Red Man!? A desolate truth!!" Wikiuser6 (talk) 19:00, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think n-denizen brings up a good point. the red man does appear before shiro is old enough to be the red man. perhaps this should be included. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.177.141.14 (talk) 23:50, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We can not forget the fact that Shiro may indeed be immortal to the point of eternal youth at least. Perhaps part of her life was one personality, and amnesia spliting into another personality...maybe even a second soul that has become the Shiro we know that hangs out with Ganta. Anyone else notice how this work is truely seinen?Wiggalama (talk) 04:16, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have watched the anime from beginning to end, but have not read the manga (if there is any).
I see no reason to think that Shiro has a split personality. Sometimes she chooses to pretend that she is Aceman; and in some of those cases, she wears a costume in which guise Ganta knows her as the Red Man. She is simply a sociopath who has no problem with killing people. Since she is herself invulnerable, she feels no fear and thus no lack of freedom. Consequently, she is unable to understand why other people avoid death or try to gain freedom. Perhaps her love for the vulnerable Ganta will eventually allow her to gain an understanding of these things.
There were a few occasions when it appeared that she was about to say something that would reveal to Ganta that she and the Red Man were the same, but she was interrupted in each case before she could say it.
I kept wondering what Ganta would do when he finds out that Shiro = Wretched Egg = Red Man. On the one hand, she is the original cause of all his suffering; but on the other hand, she loves him and has saved his life repeatedly. JRSpriggs (talk) 08:07, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Shiro's invulnerability is demonstrated by: (1) after her attack on the guard station, Yo sees her with bits of flaming material on her body and no evident adverse effect on her; (2) after she talks to Mockingbird (Toto) and decides to go looking for Ganta to retaliate for his hurting her feelings, she emerges from a live steam-pipe through which she traveled, again with no ill effects on her; and (3) after Hibana's weapon apparently breaks Shiro's legs, Shiro is able to straighten her legs and stand up to defend Ganta.
People with split personalities have a kind of selective amnesia which is a psychological defense against severe anxiety aroused by some of their memories. To the contrary, Shiro feels no fear or anxiety of any kind, until she begins to feel rejected by Ganta who she loves. JRSpriggs (talk) 04:51, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Manga?[edit]

I don't think that the anime corresponds with the first 12 volumes of the manga because the page says there are only 12 volumes out right now and they are so much far ahead in story. Is it the first 12 chapters? 68.98.25.49 (talk) 17:14, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Add volumes and chapters with info[edit]

Can you please add the volumes and chapters info already--Toxin45 (talk) 04:35, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've organized the volumes. If someone can add the Japanese and official English titles that would be great. AngusWOOF (talk) 06:51, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
