Main Body (Gameplay)

Main body paragraphs need some serious editing, someone came along an inserted a biased opinion of the game. Edits are scattered, so I am unable to identify them at the moment. Can someone go revert them?

Release Date.

I was a user of their forums since jul 2008 and they never, ever stated any release date and indeed said that "all release dates were made up by the media" recently (well not really recently,it was after the site went in "reconstruction" (late 2008/early 2009) but the forums were still left up on mistake.its down now.) so....unless someone has a argument/source in 3 days i am going to edit the release date to: TBA —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.59.196.93 (talk) 05:28, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

189.59.196.93 (talk) 05:29, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Edit: Done.since i have not really been keeping up with this game lately (i did in the past.) if anyone has a source to confirm that indeed they (techland) have stated somewhere/some time that dead island will be released on winter 2153 please feel free to change the release date back.

deadisland.com redirects to Deep Silver's site

If you go to www.deadisland.com it redirects you to Deep Silver's site, I think that's a pretty clear indication that they're going to be publishing this and that it's (hopefully) more than vapourware! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.139.192.157 (talk) 19:15, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

link is now not redirecting properly. Adamtheclown (talk) 05:47, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
this one works though: http://deadisland.deepsilver.com/ Igottheconch (talk) 21:58, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Platforms?

Is the gamecube platform correct? That seems a bit farfetched. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.208.91.246 (talk) 17:44, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

First Person

Based on the screenshot of the article I was led to believe that the game will be played in a Third Person perspective not in a First Person one. Is anyone able to clarify this? --Noalid (talk) 14:25, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

The official site lists it as first person.--128.120.201.188 (talk) 22:39, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

ESRB logo censorship

Distribution

Apparently, the game will be distributed by Square Enix. http://www.destructoid.com/esrb-censors-dead-island-logo-196951.phtml I have no idea where that information would go, so... someone take care of it, I guess. Tomonet.alex (talk) 15:03, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

It was taken care actually, as I see. Sir Lothar (talk) 18:17, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Dead Island trailer awarded

The following is an excerpt from the official Dead Island website:

“The trailer for Dead Island - hailed a "must see" by press – has now been awarded with a Golden Lion in the Film Lion Category for its original approach at the 58th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.”

Should this be mentioned? --95.222.185.26 (talk) 15:59, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Sentience

I heard somewhere that the zombies in this game are sentient and talk, does anyone know if its true? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moviemaster1993 (talkcontribs) 14:15, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Well all they do is sit around and watch FOX and TLC, so I don't know if that counts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.79.2.203 (talk) 23:25, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

There's an book

There's a book if a editor would like to add the part. Some sources [1][2][3]. There's many more but they should provide enough information. 81.105.212.160 (talk) 10:57, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Character Profiles

Can someone please arrange to change the character profiles? They are directly copied from the game's website (http://deadisland.deepsilver.com/characters.php), which is against Wiki guidelines. Thanks! (Jeimii (talk) 11:39, 15 August 2011 (UTC))

Multiplayer

Does anyone know if their will be local coop — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.240.143.147 (talk) 03:38, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

No local co-op. Can only play co-op online. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.79.16.144 (talk) 03:11, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Vandalism?

I think someone edited the first paragraph, the first sentence seems to be really inappropriate (and inaccurate). It seems to be vandalism to me. Could someaone delete/change the first sentence of the page? Ps: Sorry, if my english is bad, it's not my primary language. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.103.167.20 (talk) 15:47, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

The very first paragraph on the whole page? I didn't spot anything obvious. can you copy the text you think is a problem to this discussion? Thanks for looking out for that sort of thing. Millahnna (talk) 16:47, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

It's okay, someone deleted the unappropriate content. It was saying that Dead Island is a game where you shit in your pants and the more you shit, the more money you get. Btw, sry if my English is bad. Thanks to to person who deleted it!

Apparently zombie-infested has also been recently changed to raptor-infested...

Remove tag in reception section ?

It has a fair share of references now. Remove the tag? Chocolate Horlicks (talk) 03:54, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

At the very least all of those scores should be referenced. It's not hard. ButOnMethItIs (talk) 05:13, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Edit request from 67.189.194.80, 9 September 2011

hello. in your dead island wiki it says that there is no skill tree.. there is indeed a skill tree in the game

67.189.194.80 (talk) 06:42, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

 Done
I've changed the wording to state that a skill tree is indeed included--GroovySandwichYum. 06:56, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Mixed Reviews?

They're all in the 70s, 80s area, I'd say that's generally positive. -- AtomApple (talk) 20:47, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. The only really bad review was was from the 'Edge' magazine and to be honest, it wasn't a ver fair review at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.203.64.117 (talk) 17:53, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
I've changed the reception from "mixed" to "generally positive" (Jeimii (talk) 21:27, 17 September 2011 (UTC))

Controversy?

Is the controversy section really that significant, it's only one minor event and I personally don't believe it is important enough to warrant its own section . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.23.171.47 (talk) 13:33, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Edit request from 77.28.55.161, 13 September 2011

In the plot description, you should fix the pre-last sentence from "infection" to "vaccine", and fix some grammar errors

77.28.55.161 (talk) 18:15, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

 Done
I have made the requested changes--GroovySandwichYum. 05:32, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Saved Game corruption

Someone should add a point about the saved game corruption. Although they released many patches, PC and xbox 360 users are still experiencing MAJOR saved-game issues. They will play the game and it will save normally for the first 2 or 3 runs, and then it will suddenly corrupt its own save files and stop saving the game without warning the player in any way. Some people completed 99% of the game, closed it, opened it again, only to find that the game was never saving at all. This is still a problem with patch 1.4 for the PC and as of October 3rd for the Xbox 360. I'd recommend that nobody buy the game until this is guaranteed resolved.

I believe we should make a section titled 'Technical Issues' to cover the reports of game save corruptions and to incorporate the history of issues that have been widely reported since they were removed from the controversy section by Someguy1221. Zombie Children

In the opening it is stated that there are no zombie children in the game. I've played through the campaign and there is a mission (initiated in the church) where you set out to kill a man's family who've been turned into zombies. Upon entering his house there is a zombie wife and a zombie child. I cannot confirm this without another play-through but it is worth looking into. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.9.166.141 (talk) 21:45, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

The Daughter appears to be 16 at the least.not a child zombie , but close D.E.A.H. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.95.161.173 (talk) 18:47, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Asian character

I've totally forgotten her name and I don't feel like looking, but the profile on the page says some crap about her being an employee at the resort to enjoy a new culture or... something. Her profile in-game makes some pretty blatant references to her being a spy for an Asian CIA-esque black ops thing, and that she's at the resort to spy on somebody or something like that. 64.253.217.55 (talk) 20:13, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Xian Mei's (as well as all the characters) profile in the article are taken directly from the Dead Island website. They all need to be changed in order to comply with Wiki guidelines. Feel free to change them to something more suitable. (Jeimii (talk) 14:27, 1 November 2011 (UTC))

sequel section...original research?

The way it reads, all that the owners of the game have done is registered a domain, surely everything else is guesswork, wishful thinking and at the worst hyperbole? 87.194.84.44 (talk) 14:32, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Plot

The plot section needs some serious work. 75.167.181.12 (talk) 00:27, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

I fixed it biznitch98.122.98.86 (talk) 05:47, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Possible bias in description?

"Dead Island is an action role-playing game and uses experience-based gameplay and character customization, though options are quite limited, it is more character selection rather than "customization"."

The comment about the scope of the character selection seems to show personal bias from the writer. If a citation can be found referencing public criticism of the system then it could be helpful if it were inserted, else I believe that it may be worth editing out. 2.24.162.216 (talk) 18:19, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
