Content with specious source[edit]

BadgerStateHistorian1967 has added a paragraph of content on the history of De Soto that is not supported by the source given: Discovering Wisconsin, Wisconsin House, 1973 page 182 [sic]. The entire information in that source relating to the history of De Soto consists of this: "De Soto, population 357, was settled by Yankee New Englanders and named after the Spaniard who discovered the Mississippi." There is nothing in the source relating to Puritans, the Erie Canal or westward migration. Thus, per WP:RS, I have removed the unsourced content, which is also tangential to the topic of the article. I have also properly attributed and formatted the source in question. 32.218.152.26 (talk) 09:16, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
